He can remember all the way back to the day when he was born…his mothers soft grey muzzle nudged him and helped him up as he took his first few shaky steps on his solid black, stilt like legs…He can remember when his first few long, sleek black feathers started to form as he stretched his puny, scraggly looking wings and tore across the dry field he called home, imagining what it felt like to fly…Black Jack will never forget the first time he flew.. He stood nearby the edge of a plateau with a few other nervous yearlings. The desert wind lightly brushed through each oil black feather on his now plump, healthy wings. His mother, an older, regal chestnut Pegasus took off with a leap and galloped until she hit about five meters from the edge. She then stretched her wings and with a mighty flap and a loud whoosh she was flying off the cliff to a nearby ledge on the opposite plateau. Black Jack sucked in a big breath of air and let out a huff before he took off at the fastest gallop he could manage. He could feel each vein pulsing and every muscle tingling as he neared the edge. His wings yearned to stretch out and take off but it was too early. Sweat trickled down his built, sleek shoulders but was quickly cooled by the frigid night air of the west American desert. As he approached the edge, Black jack closed his eyes and stretched out his wings and gave his first real flap as he pushed off the edge off the cliff. Before he knew it he was gliding through the air. His wings were breath taking. They were jet black and glimmered as the moonlight reflected off of them. Each star in the sky reflected of his coat and off of his toned muscles. Flying was a wonderful feeling. He felt weightless as the light breeze blew through each individual feather on his wings and pulled him along farther and faster. He never wanted this moment to end... but all too soon his flight was over and he was back at his mother's side. Black Jack knew he would use his abilities in the best ways possible. From this point on he knew he wanted to help the Gods with their tasks and carry heros into battle. He could feel that this was his destiny and he knew one day he would achieve great things and help many great people.
