One-Shot: A Stem of A Rose

"Light…" I whispered as I watched him run away from the warehouse. I was about to follow him when Gevanni held me down with his hand. I turned around and started to cry on his chest as I felt Light's presence was no longer welcome in this world. Gevanni caressed me, telling me it would be alright. I unconsciously touched my stomach as I remembered I was gonna tell him that I was pregnant with his child. I cried harder when I realized he wouldn't know that. Gevanni led me towards the cars as he held me tightly in his arms. I continued to cry until I fell asleep.

4 years later, I was giving my son Hikaru a piggy back ride on the way home from school. It looked like her inherited his father's smarts afterall. I sadly smiled as my memories of him returned from the depths of my mind. "Okaa-san, daijoubou?" Hikaru asked. Before I could answer, he squealed when my husband started carrying him. "And where are my two angels going?" I chuckled and kissed him on the cheek. "Home where mommy will cook dinner!" Hikaru smiled and started yelling 'dinner' over and over again.

He was now on my husband's back as we passed a cemetery. "Gevanni, would you like to bring Hikaru to meet his father?" He frowned but nodded nonetheless. "Huh? But otou-san's right here." I picked Hikaru up and carried him in my arms as I explained to him that the father he knows right now is his stepfather. "Your real father died before you were born." He looked at me with his father's brown eyes as we stopped in front of a gravestone. I placed a daisy on his stone and smiled. "Light, meet your son Hikaru," The said boy nervously walked up and frowned. "Okaa-san, why is there a ring here?"

Stuck to the stone was a 24-karat gold ring with a heart-shaped emerald on it. He said to me that when he saw it, it reminded him of my eyes. My greenish black hair flew around as the wind blew past us. Hikaru's greenish black hair covered his eyes and smiled. "Boo, I'm a ghost!" I chuckled and carried him away from his grave. Gevanni made me turn around and hugged us. The wind continuously flew past us as he chuckled. "It looks like he agrees with me." I smiled. "And what would that be?"

"That he's a real idiot for losing such a beautiful woman." I blushed and kissed him. "Ew," We separated and chuckled. "Sooner or later, I prefer later, you'll find a girl you'll love for the rest of your life." I said, tickling Hikaru's nose. "No I won't, girls have cooties." My husband and I laughed as we arrived home.

Dinner passed and I was getting ready to go to sleep, if my horny husband would stop groping me. "Gomen, Kaoru, it's just that…" I sighed and gave up.

I never forgot him as I continued my life. I was now pregnant with my second child as I walked towards his stone. "I finally let go of you, Light. Now I can live happily with my family without you getting into my mind." I placed my last flower on his stone. "You gave me this on our first date,"

"Here, Kaoru." I smiled and smelled the flowers. "Arigatou, Light! They smell great and pretty too!" He smiled and held my face. "Not as pretty as my blossoming flower…"

"Now I'm giving it back." The winds blew as I walked away. "Sayonara, Yagami Light…" Leaving him with only a stem of a white rose.
