Closure & Catharsis

Disclaimer: I don't own anything except the idea for the story and my imagination. Please do not sue. I'm not making one cent off this so no infringements are being committed over here. Got it? Great. Enjoy the show.

A/n: I thought I could do this story in one chapter. Turns out that it's not that easy. I have a good idea about how the story will end and (clearly) where it starts. Stay tuned.

The pasta was cooked with garlic, oil and grilled chicken with sliced cherry tomatoes and rolls of garlic bread. It was a brand new experience for them to do something that could not be done with magic and had to be done with their hearts.

Bonnie couldn't handle being so close to the stove. The heat still got to her mentally. She handled the prep work, which involved seasoning the chicken fillets with herbs, mincing the garlic and making the salad. Sarah handled cooking the sauce, boiling the spaghetti and grilling the chicken.

For the most part, they were in the kitchen while their parents were in the living room, talking with each other.

"My mother hasn't had much luck with friends. She seems to enjoy talking with your dad." Bonnie said as Sarah was checking the meats and the pasta.

"Who knows? We might become sisters if they get any closer." Sarah joked though there was a sliver of hope in what she said. Bonnie smiled. "If I was ever so lucky to have one, I'd count myself lucky to have you as one."

"Did you tell your mom?" Sarah asked. It had taken a while to mend the broken bridge between them. When that happened, Bonnie told Sarah what she had planned to do once she graduated from school. "New York City is a long way from here."

"Yes. That's the point. It is far away from this place and from what I was. It's far away from the magic, the mayhem, and the madness."

"Are you nervous?" Sarah asked.

"Nervous. Terrified. I do not know how I'm going to be when I...when we..."

"Bonnie, she's not going to be able to do anything against us. Nancy is lost in her own mind. For now, let's go have dinner with our parents. These are good times and there will be more after tomorrow."

Bonnie did not recognize her own face or the voice she now spoke with. Sarah had a similar disguise. Apart from Sarah reminding her that she would be at her side the whole time, the other thing that seemed to calm Bonnie down was knowing that no one in the asylum would recognize them.

"Are you sure I would pass for a penguin with a face that screams 'career model'?" Bonnie asked while she subtly adjusted her habit. As an added precaution, Sarah managed to change their speaking language to Italian since the likelihood of anyone understanding anything other than English would be slim to none.

"As long as you don't look directly into anyone's face, they will just mark it up to humility." Sarah said, dressed as an registered nurse.

It took some time to find the room that Nancy Downs was being held in. A lot of the people who heard her name either scoffed at them or sarcastically wished them luck.

It was only when both women were in front of the door did the reality of the situation registered. "Apart from Rochelle and Nancy, I really did not have any other friends for the longest time, Sarah. I was treated like a source of gossip or a leper. That does not excuse what we did to you."

"For what it's worth, you have a friend in me. We're good."

"What do we say? What do I say?"

"Tell her what you have to and then goodbye. I'll probably do the same."

With a nod, they opened the door and entered the room.

A/n: To get an idea what their disguises are, Sarah looks like Annabella Sciorra and Bonnie looks like Marisa Tomei.
