Cordelia stood under the weeping willow, her long brown hair lifting with the wind and floating around her head. She carried two perfect long-stemmed roses in her hand, and set them on the single grave that held the two that were destined to be. Buffy's mom had fought letting Angel's ashes rest with Buffy's forever, but finally, upon the reading of Buffy's will, she agreed.
It had been a year to the day that Buffy was taken over by an emotion demon, and killed all of her friends, last with Angel. She and Wesley had run into the room they were in after hearing Buffy scream. They saw Angel's remains, and Buffy's body, bathed in their blood, still gripping the stake that had ended both of their lives.
The tombstone read:
Here lie Elizabeth Summers and Angel
Separated in life, but united in death
1980-2000
For convenience's sake, Buffy's dates had been engraved, and Angel's only written in the Watcher's diary, which Wesley took upon himself to complete. Cordelia felt a tear slide down her cheek, and fall on the beautiful flowers she bought only moments before at a small shop. Moving quickly before grief overwhelmed her, Cordelia set the two roses, one blood red, a deep crimson, and the other a pure white.
"I thought you'd like these. I wanted you to know I still care. Um, the white is for innocence, and the red is for love, I guess. I really wish that you were still alive. Both of you. I miss you, Angel. And you too, Buffy, even if you were a huge pain. You were so cute together." Bending down, Cordelia touched her hand to her lips, and pressed it to the tombstone.
Swiftly, she walked away. The wind seemed to laugh, and a soft rain began to fall. Through her tears, Cordelia spotted a rainbow appearing over the graveyard. She smiled. And drove away.
