Annabeth's POV
Annabeth looked over the railing of the Argo II, her hands gripping it so tightly that her knuckles turned white. She was watching Leo send a message to Camp Jupiter.
"Hey!" said Leo. "Greetings from your friends at Camp Half-Blood, et cetera. This is Leo Valdez. I'm…" Leo trailed off. "Hey, what's my title?" he yelled up to Jason and Piper, who were looking at the map. "Am I, like, admiral, or captain, or –"
"Repair boy!" shouted Piper from the deck.
"Ha ha, very funny, Piper. So yeah, I'm… ah… supreme commander of the Argo II. Yeah, I like that! Anyway, we're gonna be sailing toward you in about, I dunno, an hour in this big mother warship. We'd appreciate it if you'd not, like, blow us out of the sky or anything. So okay! If you could tell the Romans that. See you soon. Yours in demigodishness, and all that. Peace out."
Piper came up beside her, and layed her hand on Annabeth's shoulder. "Are you worried?" Piper said softly. Annabeth was vaguely aware of Leo coming up on her other side.
She just nodded in reply. "You don't need to be," insisted Piper.
"Yeah, and that's coming from Aphrodite's gal. So your obviously gonna be fine," said Leo. Annabeth laughed, and punched him on the shoulder.
She jerked backwards as the warship landed on the ground. Jason lowered the ramp. Annabeth stared at it, suddenly having a jerky feeling in her stomach.
She stepped forward. Piper, Leo, and Jason were by her side as she descended down to the ground. She was acutely aware of Jason talking to someone. "Come in peace… must unite… the Prophecy of Seven… Leo Valdez, Piper McLean, and Annabeth Chase."
The girl at the front of the Romans stepped forward. She held her hands up in the air. "The Greeks are welcome!" she shouted.
Annabeth felt eyes burning into her. She turned around. She stared at the boy who was looking at her. She took one step forward, and another, going slowly. She kept gaining speed until she was running, and she ran straight into Percy's arms.
Nobody was watching them, so they just held each other. Annabeth pulled back and touched Percy's face. A tear was going down her cheek. Ew! She never cried!
She punched Percy in the gut. "Ow! What was that for!" he exclaimed, doubling over.
"You scared me!" said Annabeth. "Gods, Percy, that was so –"
Before she could say anything else, he kissed her. When he pulled away, he grinned, and said, "Are you still mad at me?"
Annabeth laughed. "I was never mad at you, Seaweed Brain," she said. "I just missed you," she said.
"I missed you, too," he whispered.
"But you lost your memory," Annabeth pointed out dryly.
"That doesn't mean I forgot you," said Percy.
Annabeth stared at him. Then she hugged him again. "I couldn't forget you," he insisted.
"Oh, I know," said Annabeth, although she was actually crying now.
"I couldn't forget you, either."
