"Gerry where's my toasted sandwich maker?" Sandra called pulling open cupboards and slamming them shut when she failed to find the machine she was searching for.

"I threw it out apart from the fact it's like a throwback to the seventies it didn't work!" Gerry called from the living room glancing up from his racing post as she stormed into the room, her hands rested firmly on her hips and a look of pure thunder on her face.

"It did bloody well work and I use it every day where do you get off throwing out anything in my house?" She shouted the completely disproportionate level of her anger scaring him slightly as she towered over him.

"I tried to switch it on this morning to make you a banana and jam toasted for breakfast and it practically exploded! It was dangerous and now that it's finally given up you can buy something more up to date, a Panini press or something that thing was so old it was a death trap."

"Yeah well in case you hadn't noticed I like old things or I sure as hell wouldn't keep you around and I don't want a bloody Panini press I want my toasted sandwich maker it's almost impossible to get a proper one these days I can't believe you broke it!"

"I didn't do it on purpose I don't know want you're getting your knickers n a twist about it's just..." Gerry began immediately regretting his flippant comment as she growled in frustration and strutted out of the room grabbing her handbag as she went. "Where are you gang I thought we were going to watch a movie since it's such a horrible day?"

"We're not doing anything until I get a new toasted sandwich maker and if that means I have to go out in the rain so be it, if you hadn't broken it in the first place I wouldn't have to go anywhere! You realise I've had that for years and it's never given me any bother you decide to touch it and it blows up!" Sandra snapped trying to pull away from him as he reached for her moving her away from the door as he did.

"I'm sorry ok, come back inside we'll go together and look for a new sandwich maker tomorrow and to make it up to you I'll pay for it when we find it and tonight I'll make your favourite poached salmon and fragrant rice for dinner." He said quietly kissing her gently as he did.

"No matter how much it is? I don't want a cheap one that will give up after a month and can I have your home made chilli marinade in my salmon?"

"Yes and yes if you promise to come in now, clam down and stop yelling at me."

"Ok I suppose that'll be ok." Sandra relented waiting until his back was turned before smiling broadly." She could have told him that she'd been waiting for the machine to give up for weeks, that it had been making strange noises and not quite getting hot enough all that time but somehow she didn't feel a second's guilt about not doing so. He'd constantly been on a t her about being an 80's throwback and how it was the only price for kitchen equipment she could use now she couldn't think of any better payback for that teasing than to have him buy her a new one and get a nice meal out of it while she was waiting!
