"Gerry what are you doing."
"Nothing."
"Yeah right let me see the screen."
"Now it's a surprise go away."
"Let me see it."
"Sandra can't I even plan a nice surprise for our weekend off without you spying on me." Does he really think I'm that stupid? I know what date it is and I know what came out today there is more chance of me dancing naked round the office than there is of him being online buying anything else today.
"Gerry let me see what you're doing, I know already I can check the calendar just the same way you can and I know what day it is. You promised me though that you wouldn't, we've talked about this it's too much money when it keeps happening every six months."
"I know it is and I agreed which is why I am not doing it I am actually planning something nice for us." I've made a grab for the iPad but he's holding it out of my reach. I can't believe we're having this same discussion again. When I realised just how much he'd spent last time I put a complete ban on his doing it again this time and he promised me he wouldn't.
"Paula told you that she'd not be happy either if you did it so it's not just me, do you really want to spend the next week being given the silent treatment by her too?"
"No which is why I'm not doing it!" Argh this is ridiculous and finally I've got the iPad while he wasn't paying attention and can prove that he was….oh my god.
"Gerry I'm sorry I just saw the date on the calendar and assumed you…."
"You assumed that in spite of promising you and Paula over and over again that I would not immediately go and buy myself and GJ the new Chelsea kit the day it came out I was going to ignore that and do it anyway?" Damn now I feel terrible the iPad is open at the London Theatre nights website and he has been buying tickets for us to go see The Lion King. The last time he spent over £100 on the latest kit for him and GJ I went mad between that and their season ticket it was getting ridiculous so I put my foot down but I really didn't think he'd stick to it.
"I'm sorry I doubted you." I've handed him back iPad and sat beside him on the sofa looking at him with my best puppy dog expression.
"it's fine maybe next time you'll have a little more faith in me and my….." Hold on just a second I've accidently hit the back button on the screen and it's opened on the Chelsea shop now he's looking so sheepish I knew he couldn't resist and he is now officially busted he better make sure this weekend is extra special or I'm telling Paula then he really will regret it!
