Ataru sealed his fate when he sent invitations to his bachelor party. His guest list was filled with enemies. A lot of his friends were envious of his relationship with Lum. Even Rei, Lum's ex-fiancé, was invited.
To his surprise everyone showed up and was in an eerily joyful mood. Mendo even sharpened his katana for the special occasion.
Ataru was oblivious to how his guests felt. Many of them saw this as their last chance to interviene and save their beloved Lum from a life of misery with this leech. None of them could restrain themselves.
Ataru would not last the night.
