"Therefore I lie with her and she with me,

And in our faults by lies we flattered be."

"Tell me, Goddess Etro," she began, her teary eyes staring past the heavens.

"Why did things have to be this way?"

"Why do I feel something so strong for him?"

"Why did he, of all the people, become my sworn enemy?"

"Why did my kingdom entrust me with the task of battling against him?"

"Why, dear Goddess?"

"…Why do we have to fight?"

Silence resonated. But even with that, her questions did not remain unrequited.

"I have the same questions for her," a deep, beguiling voice spoke within the stillness of the place. "But she hasn't even told me the answers. Do you really think that she will give them to you?"

She turned around, delighted to hear him. He smirked darkly, contented in seeing her face brighten up despite the pain that he realized she felt.

She brandished her rapier. He drew out his sword.

She felt the ethereal weight of the light's golden crest behind her. He sensed the power of the light upon his back strengthen him.

Stella. Noctis.

Etro saw them from afar. She watched them from the land of the dead, her divine realm.

The goddess heard, but never once did she answer their questions.

It is all up to them, she now proclaimed, to find the responses that they greatly seek.

That was her answer. Goddess Etro's. Short. But it overflowed with reasonable explanations immeasurable by mere lifetime.

Though they did not know yet, they will eventually find out everything, in this battle, in this war. For never did any mortal question the deeds of the deity, like what Noctis and Stella have.
