Red-Handed & Black-Eyed
So recently I have taken an interest in the game Dishonored. I do love the idea of the game and from what I have seen in playthroughs it looks awesome! Bare in mind that I haven't actually played the game yet, but I plan to... soon-ish. Anyway, I have also done extensive research beyond watching playthroughs (by that I mean the wiki page) and hopefully I have some grasp of what I'm doing here. If not feel free to correct me or ask questions about my choices in a civil manner, no flame outs or unnecessary language please! Other than that please enjoy and R&R!
Prologue: Left Hand
It was carved into my curled fist as if he knew exactly what would illicit a response. Emotions licked and bit at me like the angry and cleansing teeth of a flame. Hatred, love, devotion, regret, surrender, horror, and awe flashed through me all at once bringing my heart to a rat-race pace. Most of all there was a terrible joy and happiness that I had been chosen, I had been marked. Now I knew with horrible certainty that the Gods were on my side (or at least one of them).
At first upon waking, I could feel my back ache. That wasn't something new, the dull throb pounding down my spine was something I had long gotten used to. There was something running down the upside of my hand. I turned it over and was taken aback, yet not completely surprised to find my hand bleeding from the mark he had left. I had heard tales that the mark reacted differently for each person he gave it to, but I always heard that it was more of a brand, burned into the skin not a scar as mine was.
I laid in bed for the for the longest time just staring at the black and bleeding thing. I wondered why he would put it on the left hand. I remembered reading somewhere that left-handed people were more likely to become great leaders, were prone to tempers, and had abrasive personalities. But I was right-handed, so that train of thought trailed off especially when I found out how useless my left hand still was. Then I thought of another significant thing that the left hand symbolized. You put a wedding band on the left ring finger. So was this like a marriage contract? After awhile it stopped bleeding and now I had to think about what this meant now. I looked back on the events of my life leading me up to this point and wondered at point did the Outsider's black eyes turn to me in interest.
I suppose it would've started when I was seventeen...
