This is a oneshot by me. No relationships have happened yet. Set before the shinobi war.
"Where is he?" moaned Sakura, Kakashi had arrived and Naruto still wasn't here.
"Sakura, Naruto will not be with us today" Informed Kakashi.
"Why?" she moaned, she didn't get random days off like he did. The first time Naruto didn't turn up Kakahsi went off to find him and returned without him. When Sasuke asked where he was Kakashi sighed and said "He is... losing his pain," Sakura didn't understand but Sasuke seemed to. What happened to Naruto. From then on, about once every two months he would vanish and Kakashi would just teach the others. "Why? What does losing his pain mean?"
"Sakura, Naruto's had a tough life. He has no family. He's been bullied. People have tried to kill him from the age of four. He needs to ... lose his pain sometimes or he'll explode. He goes because he doesn't want to be seen that way,"
"what way?" She questioned. Naruto cared about her, why wouldn't he want to be seen?
"weak," stated Kakashi bluntly.
"I still don't understand," she muttered as Kakashi started her training. Last time he went, Sakura went to his house, thinking he would be there. Only to find that he had left. After training till about four, Sakura went home. Halfway home she changed her mind and decided to look for Naruto.
She searched the entire village. He was nowhere.
He wasn't with the Hokage.
He wasn't in the ramen shop.
He wasn't in the weapon shop or the academy.
Where was he? This was the 28th time he had just gone. Sakura decided she would look outside the village, not far because she wanted to be home for tea.
After roaming through trees for twenty minutes, she saw him. He was curled up in a ball crying. Tears were flowing from his face. Weak, so that's what he meant. She stepped forward so she could ask what hurt him? But Kakashi was there "Do not go talk to him, leave before he sees you," he ordered. Sakura was horrified "why? He needs to be comforted,"
Kakashi watched as he remembered how he saw Naruto's pain.
He was searching for Naruto. He missed training today. He saw Naruto lying there in the trees. He had thought he was hurt and rushed to him. Once he got close he heard his cries "Why I am alone? Why does everyone hate me? Why am I even here?" He was beside Naruto. Naruto in his cries of woe din't notice the silver haired ninja.
Kakashi was kneeling down to comfort him as Naruto moaned "Why shouldn't I kill myself?" Kakashi, in shock, got up and started to walk away. It had hurt him to here his pupil, his child (Kakashi kind of raises him) to think like that.
End flashback
Sakura knelt down by Naruto and hugged him. She squeezed him tight. "Sakura?" He asked, overwhelmed by what just happened.
"Naruto it's O.K. I'm here. I'm your friend. I..."
"You?" He asked, completely focused on her.
"I.. I. I love you!" She grabed him and held him. He clasped her face between his hands and kissed her.
"I love you to," He smiled.
In all the years that he lived, he never took a day off again.
