Nitori, 7 years old, sits in his front yard, a pile of little green army men sitting in his lap. He begins lining them up for what will be the most epic of battles. As he's setting the last one up, he hears his name being called. "Hey! Hey! Nitori!" He doesn't look up, his focus is completely turned towards his army men. The sound of a bike falling to the pavement and tennis shoes pounding on asphalt is heard but, he is determined to ignore it until his task is complete. "Hey! Ni-to-ri!" Rin, age 9, playfully tackles Nitori, knocking all of his army men down. "H-hey…" Nitori sighs in defeat. "Hey, Nitori! Let's go play in the woods!" That got his attention. "The woods?! We aren't allowed to play there!" Nitori scrambles to his feet. "Aw, c'mon Ai." Nitori feels his heart skip a beat. "D-don't call me that…" He kicks the dirt with his worn sneakers. "It's embarrassing…" Rin stands his bike back up and pats the seat. "Just stand on my pegs and wrap your arms around my waist!" Rin climbs onto his bike and looks eagerly at the shorter boy. "Well…alright. But if we get lost, you aren't my friend anymore."/div

Rin pedaled them out of town and into the woods. The oak trees shaded the path and the woods was alive with the sounds of bugs, birds and other various wildlife. Nitori looked around, his grip on Rin tightening. Rin stopped his bike and Nitori hopped off. Rin taps Nitori's shoulder and runs into the woods. "You're it!" Nitori fidgets nervously for a moment. "H-hey, Rin! No fair!" He chases him into the woods. It takes him a few minutes to catch Rin. "You're it!" Nitori giggles cheerfully. Rin shoves him playfully. Their giggling slowly dies down and they stand in silence. "Rin…" "Yeah?" "Do you know where we are?" "Not really- But! I think we came from that way!" Rin grabs Nitori's hand and drags him along. They walk for a while. "This can't be right…" Nitori speaks up. "I-it is right! I swear!" Rin's voice wavers slightly and tears well up in the corners of his eyes. He rubs them aggressively on the sleeve of his hoodie and before walking again. Nitori hugs onto Rin's arm. "I'm scared…" "I'm sure we're almost out." The sky was turning shades of orange and purple as the sun set quickly over the horizon. "R-Rin" Nitori whined, tears flowing down his cheeks. "What-what-what if we n-never get out?!" Nitori sobs and hiccups. Rin can feel tears welling up in his eyes. He holds Nitori closer to him. "I promise we'll get out!" A tear rolls down Rin's cheek. Rin starts jogging into the woods. Nitori follows, sobbing the entire time. "Who's there?" A voice says. "Are those two kids?" Another. "Are you two lost?" A man, maybe in his 40s, pushes a branch out of the way. "Do you need help getting home?" A woman, presumably his wife adds. Rin nods, big tears rolling down his cheek. The couple drives the two home. "Rin…" Nitori sniffs. "We aren't friends anymore." Rin falls onto his side in the back of the couple's car, his head falling into Nitori's lap. "You don't mean that! C'mon…I'm sorry!"/div
