I think there's a Kneazle under my dorm bed. Let me explain. First, why I'm writing this. I'm a Gryffindor sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. My name is Marlene MacKinnon and my mother gave me this diary as a birthday present because, in her words, 'so you can write down all your memories and when you're older, you can relive them'. So, I suppose, I'm writing to my older self now. That's weird. Whatever. Hi, older Marlene MacKinnon! I'll try my best to chronicle(isn't that a cool word? I heard one of my new housemates saying it and found it in Amycus Byrd's Comprehensive Children's Dictionary in the library!) my first year accurately and thourghly. It's the night of my first day at Hogwarts now, and I'm super tired so I'll hurry.

I arrived at the train station at 10 O' clock this morning and had to sit waiting for an entire hour while Gabrielle (my older sister)criticized ever possible aspect of me and gushed about her booyyyfriend. Finally, normal people started to arrive. This was good because it sent Gabrielle running off in search of Gideon Prewett thus leaving me free of her nagging. It was bad because it left me alone on a platform covered in strangers.

I yelled after her, and someone else named Gabrielle answered.. She was also a first year, and really friendly, so we got on the train together and found one of the last empty compartments. We're best friends forever, I think.

I'll write more tomorrow if I have time. I'm reeeaaalllyyy tired now. The cat/kneazle under my bed is asleep, I think.

Not much time, gotta go to breakfast. The kneazle(which is what it is) is really sweet. He belongs to Mary Macdonald(another Gryffindor girl). She says she wanted a cat, but her parents got the kneazle instead, because they're smarter and live longer. I want a kneazle for Christmas.

A/N: I've had a story in my head(and spread out over a myriad of documents for a long time. I rather randomly typed this out, and decided I liked it, so it's either going to be the first chapter or a oneshot that ties into it.:)
