So, yeah… have you ever noticed that the Harry Potter movies are completely not following the events of the books?
The one instance of inaccuracy that just totally infuriates me is in the third movie, Harry doesn't get his new broom until the very end of the year. HOW DID HE WIN THE QUIDDITCH CUP IF HE DIDN'T HAVE A BROOM?!? IT BOGGLES THE MIND!!!
IT'S JUST INSANE!!!
Anyways… this is my theory on how Gryffindor won the quidditch cup in the movie's version of the third year…
The Gryffindor team walks out onto the field. They mount their brooms and take off. All except Harry that is. The snitch is released and the game begins.
Harry climbs up onto his brand new stilts and tries desperately to catch a glimpse of the elusive snitch. He spots it. Frantically running back and forth he reaches up again and again, but the tiny golden ball remains just out of reach.
The Slytherins in the stands are dead silent for a moment. And then, a laugh rings out above the deafening silence. This laugh is soon joined by another, and then another, and within a few seconds, every Slytherin is laughing their heads off at the sight of the great seeker, Harry Potter, trying desperately to reach the snitch that's only half a centimeter away from his hands.
The Slytherins die of laughter. Crabbe and Goyle collide in midair and burst into flames. As Goyle's charred skull lands on the ground, Harry sees his chance. He steps onto the skull and reaches up. It gives him the extra height he needs to reach the tiny golden snitch. He catches the snitch. The Gryffindors win. The End.
Well, there you have it folks. That's how they won the quidditch cup in the third movie when Harry didn't have his broom.
