Sara woke slowly, rolling over to look at the clock. Her confused thoughts quickly re-organised themselves and she realised it was their day off today, unless any criminal decided to ruin that..which normally they did. She ran her hand along the matress until it made contact with skin, she turned over again to face her find, Gil was still asleep. Lips pressed together on an expressionless face. But she could tell he was contented, his closed eyes were relaxed, his brow smooth and his breathing steady. Sara slid her hand over his body and onto his naked chest, bringing the rest of her body along she snuggled up to him, resting her head on his shoulder and pulling the covers tighter around her. She settled enough to catch a few more hours sleep after working a double shift and a half.
An hour later Gil stirred from his slumber. He didnt have to open his eyes to know she was still asleep, draped across his chest he could feel the steady beat of her heart against his. He snaked an arm across her and let it rest on her hip, tucking his fingers under the waist band of her pajama pants. He kissed her head and watched her sleep as he had many times before.

Sara got into bed after leaving Gil to finish watching something downstairs, she figured by the time she had showered and changed into her PJ's he would be ready to go to bed. They had just got in after 12 hours in the field and she was exhausted. She lay in bed waiting for him to come up and join her. After 15 minutes he still hadnt appeared, and although her body was too exhausted to get up and find him, her mind couldn't shut off without knowing he was beside her. Sara lay in the dark waiting, she knew he needed his sleep just as much as her so where was he? Eventually she heard stirring downstairs, shortly followed by tired, heavy steps up the stairs. She sighed, at last. As he stumbled around in the dark, trying to be quiet, she spoke startling him.
"What took you so long?" She asked, her voice with a hint of annoyance.
"I got watching something else.. I'm sorry I didnt realise you were waiting for me." He shrugged, hoping she wasnt mad at him. The dark covering her expression.
"I have no choice." She whispered quietly, almost too quiet for him to hear. But as he slipped into bed next to her, he replied.
"Why's that?" A little confused, had he done something wrong?
"It doesnt matter, Goodnight." She turned over, away from him. Annoyed with herself for being annoyed with him. He didnt even know what he had done. He moved closer behind her wrapping his arm around her, his fingers playing with the small jewel that sat in her navel. He put his chin on her shoulder and whispered in her ear.
"If you cant sleep without me here.. you should have just told me. I fell asleep on the couch..hence me being late up." He told her truthfully, causing her to turn around in his arms. His fingers now tracing circles on the small of her back instead. The corners of her mouth turned up into a smirk.
"You know me too well." She whispered, running a hand across his cheek.
"I'd like to think so." He replied before kissing her long and hard. When he pulled away he kissed her forehead. "You can go to sleep now." And she did.
