Josak perched on the top of the ledge overlooking one of the many courtyard gardens. Although he did this often, he had his eye on one of the unsuspecting victims sitting on a bench, reading a book. Josak grinned. There was no way Conrad would have any clue about what he was planning.
Josak quickly retreated from his hiding spot and dropped lightly onto a patch of grass where Conrad couldn't see him. He then dashed off to the window opening into Conrad's bedroom. Hoisting himself up and into the window with practiced ease, he discreetly placed a small cd player with speakers and tested it quickly; silently thanking Yuri for bringing it over with him on his last trip. Moving lightly around the room, he placed a small bucket of ice chilling a bottle of champagne along with two glasses. He tossed some blue rose petals onto the bed. Taking one last glance around the room, he did a quick mental check-list to see that everything was prepared perfectly. With a small gasp, he rushed to where he hid the cd player and picked up the remote. Walking back to the door, he tested to see that it would activate from that distance. Satisfied, he slid the remote into his pocket and hurried out the door, wanting to get a hold of Günter before Conrad headed back to his room.
Bursting into Günter's office, Josak quickly grabbed him by arm and pulled him close, whispering in his ear, "It's all set up now. Think you can get him to his room without him suspecting anything?"
"Easy. My entire job is directing people without letting them know my true intentions."
"Thanks, Günter. You're really helping me out here." Josak hugged him quickly before jumping out of the window and dashing off towards Conrad's room, keeping close to the shadows and out of sight.
Günter went out in search of his prey and found him still reading a book in the courtyard.
"Ah, Conrad, there you are."
"Günter? You were looking for me?"
"Yes. I received a message from the party you sent off to Selvia. Not knowing where you were, I just put it on the night stand in your room."
"Thank you. I've been waiting for that message." Conrad marked his place in his book then stood up, dusting himself off. "I'll be seeing you around."
"You too. Ta." Günter continued on out of the courtyard, as if he had just happened to be going in that direction and caught a glance of Conrad out of the corner of his eye.
Conrad opened the door to his room to find Josak standing in the middle of the room, dressed in a tuxedo from the Yuri's world, a huge grin on his face.
"…Josak? What are you doing dressed like that? What is all this?" He stepped into the room, carefully closing the door behind him.
Josak hit the remote to play the cd that he had so carefully selected. Dean Martin's "Sway" filled the room with its gentle melody. Josak walked over to Conrad and pulled him close into a dancing position.
"Josak…what…why?"
Josak leaned forward so that he was whispering into Conrad's ear. "Thought I would forget our one-year anniversary?" Conrad's eyes widened and a soft smile crept across his face. He gripped Josak a little tighter and danced with him, taking in the room as they gently moved in circles, seeing the champagne, the rose petals. He sighed and whispered into Josak's ear. "I couldn't ask for a better partner than you, my love. I love you."
"I love you too, Conrad. I love you too."
