Note: this is a... i suppose snippet is the word, that i wrote a while ago. i don't remember all the details now but the gist of it was that the hive five and teen titans were stuck in a mystical warp where they were experiencing each other's worst nightmares. this is the only scene for the story i've written and it will most likely stay that way but i figured i'd post it.
disclaimer: i don't own teen titans
The stench was the first thing to assault the senses; an overpowering scent of blood, death and decay. Next was the silence, the kind that only comes after a devastating storm. Oppressive silence in which any survivors realize they're still alive and trying to determine whether or not that's a good thing. When the dim light filtering through the near impenetrable cloud cover finally illuminated the landscape it was all that was promised; death and destruction. Ruins of skyscrapers claw at a lightning streaked sky and former walkways and roads have become horrific galleries the dead and petrified victims. It was Beastboy who first broke the gut-wrenching reverie.
"W-where are we?"
Hesitantly each pair of frightened eyes turned to Raven – it was, after all, her nightmare.
"Jump City." The empathy replied tersely, eyes resolutely closed as though trying to will the morbid scenery into oblivion.
"What?!?" Gizmo burst out as several pairs of eyes widened and glances flitted shakily across the ruins of what did indeed appear to be Jump City.
"But," Jinx asked shakily, "How did this…" She trailed off, gesturing helplessly at the carnage surrounding the misplaced super-teens.
Before anyone could respond a sudden movement made the nervous teens jump. Two particularly vicious looking crows were fighting over some mercifully unidentifiable carrion. Several of the Titans and Hive students looked ill as the grimly entrancing display ended with one of the birds slicing the other's throat with its serrated beak before flying off with its prize.
A slightly unhinged chuckle behind them caused the assembled teens to spin abruptly around, with the notable exception of Raven who paled a deathly shade and continued staring blankly ahead.
