I was given the task, recently, of writing a poem in conversation with or in response to the work of William Carlos Williams. This is not that poem. This is the poem that I wrote while I was procrastinating the writing of my serious poem, and while I probably should have destroyed this immediately, I have grown rather fond of it, so I have decided to let it see the light of day somewhere on the internets.

This is a parody of the poem "This is just to say" by William Carlos Williams. If you are unfamiliar with it, it may behoove you Google it to grasp the full humor.

This is just to say

I have placed

a head

inside of

the icebox

in which

you were probably

keeping

your food

forgive me

it's an experiment

it must

be kept cold
