Xolette sat on the cliff's edge in a world that she had been told was Symphony of Sorcery, countless petals drifting past her along the wind. It truly was a beautiful world, the kind she would dream of leaving Twilight Town and seeing as a kid. And now, here she was.
She felt a numb feeling in her chest remembering her childhood and recent years. Her days played out much the same on the streets that she was so familiar with. She could always count on Hayner and Pence to be there, for their group dynamic to always remain the same. Days filled with struggle, and working odd jobs to save up munny for pretzels and watermelon. Plans for beach trips and summer relaxation. Everything was as it should be.
But she couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. After she, Hayner, and Pence first met Sora, and even now during her travels helping her other allies with serving Avina, when she was alone, she would turn to someone to say something, only to find that no one was there. She'd remember promises she had never made, inside jokes that no one else knew. She could feel her mind reaching out, yearning for something, or someone, to answer it.
It was as if she'd experienced this all before, in some other life.
But at the same time, she realized none of that could have happened. She remembered nothing apart from Olette's memories and her new experiences. The only other life she knew of was as a Somebody, to which she hoped to regain the status of someday. But at the same time, she wondered what would happen if that never happened. She wondered would happen if she just faded away one day. Where did she fall exactly? What was she? She had memories and experiences, but none of that would matter in the long run. She'd lost it all eventually.
She'd be destined to only be temporary.
