Summer Leaves
Dipper Pines was sitting alone in the woods, like he had been lately, contemplating. The mysteries of Gravity Falls had gotten thinner as he had gotten taller, simpler as he'd gotten smarter. Still, it wasn't until this summer that'd it really hit him. Mabel was away, Grunkle Stan/Great Uncle Ford were continuing to explore the world and Soos' days were spent maintaining the Mystery Shack. Dipper felt utterly… alone. All alone.
Well before he got tapped on the shoulder anyways.
Turning around, he saw the heiress to his heart, Wendy Corduroy. Even many years after they'd first met, she'd remained beautiful and close to his heart. Her long red hair remained as straight and refined as when they'd first met so long ago. Wearing the usual plaid collared shirt Dipper had seen her in so many times these past few summers.
"What's up dude?" She asked nonchalantly. Dipper sunk a bit on the log he was sitting on before stretching himself back out again.
"Nothing." He said mournfully before sighing loudly.
Wendy gave him a bit of a look of concern back. "I don't know, that doesn't really sound like nothing. Do you wanna talk about it?"
"I just don't enjoy being alone as much as I have been lately. I'm not against being alone, but with Mabel, Grunkle Stan, and Soos all busy…" Dipper stopped talking as Wendy inched closer to him.
"But your not all alone." She said back. "I've been here as much as I could be, between being in charge of the house and the job at the shack."
"I know you have been. I never said you weren't." Dipper said, feeling guilty now. "I've always wanted more I guess."
"I know dude. I know." She said back.
An awkward silence filled the air for what seemed like forever, even though only about three minutes had passed at worst. Finally, Dipper stood up and tried to leave.
"I'm just going to go now…" Dipper was pulled back by Wendy as he tried to walk away.
"Dude, wait…" Wendy began but froze as she looked into Dipper's eyes. His deep, dark eyes. "Ha-have I ever mentioned you have pretty eyes?"
"No…" Dipper said. It'd never hit either of them how tall Dipper had really gotten until right then. Having been near her hips in height when they'd first met, he'd grown all the way up to the height of her nose. They could finally look each other in the eyes like real adults.
"I-I…" he stammered, sweating bullets down his face."… k-know… that-t..-" Before he could finish another word, their lips locked. Their eyes instinctively closed, but they felt each other's embrace. His young childhood dream had finally been answered. And as they finished, "you'll never been alone." She said with a wink.
