The challenge

Misty sat next to Brock. She loved Pokemon battles, but a challenge at ten in the evening, when all she wanted to do was relax with a romantic film, was not her ideal end of the day. "I'm tempted to return to my room," she muttered under her breath, sighing. Her hotel room was practically perfect. Already missing it. It had a huge bed and bathroom had all possible types of salts and shampoo. But unfortunately, the battle between Ash and Gary was very noisy, as usual. Fortunately, however, because of a winter harsh with rain and cold, there weren't many tourists in the hotel to annoy. "Are they allowed to fight in the park of the hotel?" Misty asked suspiciously.

"I haven't the faintest idea," Brock replied, eyebrows raised. "But you can tell Ash is nervous... about returning to the League in a few days."

Yeah, back to the League of Kanto.

It had been ten years since the first time Ash had fought in that arena, but it seemed that the kid, as Ash still appeared to everyone, had grown very little. He was still so nervous about the League because it had been his first major defeat, so he had asked Brock and Misty to go with him. And in a few days even Vera and Lucinda would arrive too. "Go, Pikachu!" Ash shouted, revoking his Gliscor, dazed by Gary's Electivire. The little yellow mouse jumped down from the shoulder of his master and established himself boldly in front of the other Pokemon. His red cheeks were beginning to crackle with energy.

"That'd be too easy," Gary smiled, laughing and making Electivire return into the Pokeball.

"What are they fighting for, anyway?" Misty asked, carefully watching the new Pokemon Gary chose. A Pinsir this time.

Brock frowned, uncertain. "I'm not sure."

"Has Gary insulted him again?"

"Or maybe Ash tried to steal the covers." It was common knowledge by now. The old scandalous gossip of the relationship between Gary and Ash. It had shocked their friends and had bought tears of joy to Ash's mother's eyes. But after a year the two guys of Pallet Town seemed perfectly at ease in their new relationship, the waters had subsided and now it was now much less worrying to see Ash with sexual impulses or Gary always around him.

The rumble of thunder distracted Misty from her thoughts and the woman jumped. Thundershock did not have a huge effect on Pinsir, so it returned with a terrible crash. Pikachu rolled back a few meters, but seemed to recover quickly and at the order of his trainer he rushed back against the opponent with an unexpected Thunderpunch. Pinsir also seemed surprised because he jumped on the spot and staggered before falling to the ground. "When did he learn Thunderpunch?" Gary asked, irritated.

"I wanted to keep it as a surprise to the league, but this was too important," said Ash, with a dramatic pause. "And I won."

"I let you win."

"I won in a legitimate way."

Gary called Pinsir back and shrugged. "Okay, let's go. This time I'll let you be on top."

Misty turned to Brock, shocked, but he was just standing next to her, still as granite. "Brock... did they just have a Pokemon battle to decide the sexual activities of this evening?"

"No, Misty, I didn't hear anything of the sort."

"But you were here-"

"I didn't hear anything," confirmed the Gym Leader. His voice gave away that he was also shocked underneath his stony exterior. Misty sighed. Fortunately, she wasn't the one with the hotel room close to Ash and Gary.
