"And I have big surprise for everyone when I get home!" I hear my brother, Beck, say when I get back from getting a glass of water.
"Oh, what kind of surprise!" I run back in front of the computer next to mom, who gives me a hug and a kiss on the temple. Beck smiles at me and turns away. I knew he wasn't going to tell me.
"That's why it's a surprise, Toro." He says poking his webcam as if he were poking my nose.
"Dude!" I say, "I thought we talked about you not calling me that anymore." My mom laughs and kisses me on the cheek once again.
"Maybe you should tell mom to stop doing that too." He points to mom with a smug look in his eyes and I glare at him piercingly, hoping he gets my message.
"I'm right here, Beckly James." Mom says and stands up. She gives my shoulders a squeeze and reminds Beck to take his medicine and to pray at night, Beck simply says yes like any boy and mom leaves the study to get ready for dinner.
"So when's dad coming home?" He asks me and I see him stand up and walk to the silver mini fridge behind him. It was a gift from me, mom, and dad when he went off to college two years ago, I'm glad to see a picture of him and me posted on it.
As expected, Beck pulls out an apple and begins munching on it as he sits back down. I stare at him and he smiles innocently, "What?" He asks.
"You haven't changed." I say and he laughs at me for that.
"If it's because of the apple, I don't have a problem, Toro." There he goes again with his silly nickname. I disregard it and answer his question.
"He should be home two days from now." I grab the rubik's cube above the monitor and give it a go.
"I see, well give him a hug for me, okay kiddo?" He requests and I smile and nod at him. He's always been the most perfect older brother and I'm proud as hell to have him.
I remember bragging about him to my friends during the third grade and how fast things changed during the ninth grade, when most of the girls in my group only hung out with me because of him. It was a sad time but Beck always cheered me on. He was the only one I could really count on and I quote him—he's the only guy, aside from dad—who wasn't going to break my heart.
"Tori?" He calls me and I break from my trance. I see Freddie, his roommate has already arrived, which meant that he was going to use their shared computer to talk to his girlfriend, Cat.
"Hey ToriBear!" Freddie calls out. It looks like he just came from the gym since his hair was all messy and his white shirt hugged his muscles tightly because of the sweat and I shouldn't be talking about him like this now but he was so adorable.
"Hi, Fredward." He rolls his eyes at his full name being used. "Gym?"
"Just ran seven laps." I see Beck at the background chewing on his apple, "How are you? How's school?"
"Sucks. I'm glad winter break's here." He wipes a towel on his face and he smiles when I finally see him again. "I hate Chemistry. Did you know that?"
Beck points at the webcam, giving me an agreeing look. "Yeah, it really sucks." Freddie laughs and throws the towel away.
"All right, Tori, time for us to say bye bye." Beck moves closer to the camera and blows me a flying kiss. "I love you, okay?"
"I love you too." I tell him.
"I love you three!" Freddie joins in, Beck rubs his hair and then waves good bye.
A/N: A completely new writing style for a completely AU story. Don't worry, I haven't left TMWYWFH just yet, but this is going to be a five-shot at most. Just to fill in my writer's block, so bear with me here.
