Disclaimer: Neither the boys nor anything related to Supernatural belongs to me. I'm just having some fun with the boys, playing around with Eric Kripke's sandbox.

Somewhere Along the Lone Road

By: Vanessa Sgroi

Hearing Sam start heaving once again in the backseat, Dean pulled to the side of the dark country road and cut the ignition. Exiting the driver's side, he yanked open the back door and knelt, wrinkling his nose at the smell of acidic bile permeating the air. As Sam turned to dry-heaving, the older Winchester grabbed the plastic bucket, emptied what little was in it.

Dean carded a hand through Sam's damp hair. "You doin' okay? Sorry we're still in the middle of nowhere."

"'m okay," croaked Sam. He shifted against the leather of the backseat as his older brother ghosted a hand across his forehead. "Lookin' forward to motel room though."

"Hate to say it, but we've got a while to go yet." Dean stood and walked to the trunk. He grabbed a couple of bottles of water from their supply before returning to a crouch next to Sam. "Here—rinse and spit then take a few sips."

When Sam was done, Dean used a tiny bit of the water to clean out the bucket before returning it to its place. He re-adjusted the worn blanket around Sam, patted his shoulder. "Hang in here, kiddo. We'll find something somewhere."
