"Shut the hell up, Lysander."
Lysander looks over at his brother and scowls. "If you even listened, you would know that this isn't something that you can easily shut up about."
"Molly. I know, and I didn't have to listen," Lorcan groans. "Why don't you just tell her you love her so you don't have to keep telling me about it?"
Lysander freezes. "I don't—" He suddenly finds it hard to even get the words out, even though this is, of course, all hypothetical, "—love Molly."
Lorcan grins. "Sure you do," and he walks out of their dorm, leaving Lysander consumed by his thoughts.

Three weeks later, Molly grabs Lysander's hand while he studies with her at the edge of the Black Lake. He looks up at her curiously. She smiles. "I'm in love with you," she explains simply.
He doesn't quite have a response to that, but he doesn't have to—he glues his lips on hers before she can get another word in.

"You told him?" Lucy squeals an hour later, once Lucy has returned to her dorm.
Molly blinks, trying to keep at straight face. "What?"
"That you love him?" Lucy clarifies, a face-splitting grin on her face. She's nearly bouncing with excitement, which is exactly what Molly would love to do right now.
Molly takes a breath. "What makes you say that?" she asks casually, laying on her bed. Even the ceiling looks interesting right now.
"You haven't stopped smiling since you walked in here, not to mention your lips are bruised and puffy as all hell. And Lorcan told me a week ago that Lysander was in love with you, too, so… it wasn't that hard to figure out."
Molly laughs, because she knows that Lysander is having this same conversation with his brother right about now. "I guess I owe you, Luc. I wouldn't have figured it out if you hadn't helped me realize it."
Lucy sits down at the edge of the bed. "You can't be best friends with Lysander Scamander that long and not fall in love with him sooner or later."
