Mine
The battle had left the landscape a devastated mess. Dying flames on what used to be trees, and smoke and dust of what used to be earth.
Two men stood amid the barren scene, caged within the blue flurry of Sasuke's jutsu.
But the rapid screech of Chidori Nagashi was not as piercing as his heavy, dying breaths. And the smell of destruction was not as pungent as the thick, heady scent of his blood, seeping through his clothes and running red down Sasuke's blade. Crimson streaks trailed down his fingers at its handle, some settling into the crevices of his palm, others forming droplets and a steady drip drip drip.
Sasuke turned his wrist. The lightning died down around them as he raised his free hand, using it to cup the other man's paling cheek. Sasuke turned his lips to the man's ear, his whisper slicing through the sudden silence: "You have always been mine." He yanked his weapon from the man's body, stepping aside as he collapsed onto the ground, a puddle of blood forming beneath him.
Sasuke's features betrayed nothing, as bleak and austere as they always were. But there was something…something clotting in his throat, clawing its way out, and he refused to look at the dying man at his feet, lest it be released.
Sasuke remained where he was until he heard that last, thin wisp of air, that final struggle for breath before one long sigh of acceptance. The blood collected around him as he tucked his katana into its sheath.
Sasuke could not look back as he walked away from Naruto's corpse. The only connection between them, the scarlet path he left behind his steps.
A/N: I always think about the chapter where Kyuubi told Sasuke not to kill Naruto, because he would regret it. I wonder sometimes if it might be foreshadowing, it would make me so sad, cuz i love these two together :(
But anyway, this was just a scene that spawned from that. Really short, I just had to get it out of my head.
