"A break in, how?" Sam scowled at Tucker, arms crossed. "This place is practically inescapable. Hell, I'm half sure even Danny couldn't break in."

Tucker frowned, typing repeatedly onto his keyboard. "The Fenton tech makes this place impermeable to Ghosts. We legally are not allowed to harm humans, hence why a human broke in. They are on the Third floor, I've got them locked down." Tucker pressed a button. "Valerie, they are nearing Danny's Room."

The gruff voice of their favorite huntress radioed over. "He's in my sights."

Over the screens, Sam watched as Valerie leaped at the invader, barely missing. Without pause, the Huntress struck over and over, each attack barely missing. The invader was clearly panicked, hands in the air. They didn't attack once, only dodged Valerie's constant assaults.

Then everything changed, Invader was hit, clipped by Valerie's fist. Both froze, utterly unmoving. Then Both collapsed, each seizing up over and over, foam dripping from their lips.

Sam shot out of the Security office at record speeds, leaping over banisters with a grace born of years of training with Danny and Valerie. She reached the third floor just as Tucker opened it. Valerie and the Invader were glowing a soft purple, Sam knew it was clearly supernatural.

Pulling her Spirit catcher tech, her wedding gift from Maddie her Mother in Law, from her shirt Sam held it out. It's harsh green glow clashed against the purple, before slowly draining the energy inwards.

For a solid minute the energy flowed into the tech before it vanished entirely. "Tucker, give me a full scan."

Her earpiece went off immediately. "It isn't Ghost energy or ectoplasm. It seems to be lighter, less dense. Kind of like how blue light comes from white light. It probably passed right through Valerie's suit. The air's clear though, you can take them to the sick bay."

Nodding, Sam pulled out handcuffs. "Hopefully these will work..." reaching over, she grabbed the arms of the Invader, coming face to unconscious face with a young girl. She had almost grey skin, with frizzy brown hair. She looked exhausted, with deep circles under her eyes. "Tucker, run face recognition... she can't be more then fifteen..." Despite her age, Sam still put on the handcuffs.

She was about to lift the girl when Valerie's rough hand grasped her arm. "I got this." The young girl was lifted up into Valerie's arms. The Huntress' mask swirled away, revealing a tear streaked face.

Stunned, Sam followed her all of the way to the sick bay.

...

"Sam, are you okay? I heard about the break in." Danny sighed as he pulled his wife into his arms, the knowledge that she was safe ahd unharmed have him a lot of relief.

Sam's head shifted against his chest. "I wasn't hit, Val was."

His eyes roamed to the Huntress. She changed a lot over the years, becoming colder and stronger. Even with suit, her powerful muscles were clear to see. However it was the heartbroken look in her eyes that caught his attention the most.

"Valerie... are you okay?"

The girl nodded, looking back at the bed. Danny was confused at the sight of a very tall, but thin girl.

Sam clearly realized this, pulling away. "Her name is Alizet Vegara, she is a patient at the Newport Institution for Psychiatric Health. She was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at age four, hearing voices and seeing things.

She went missing a few weeks ago, attacked her caretakers and Apparently hitch hiked here on her own. She's off her meds... we were going to start them again but Valerie didn't like that."

The bitterness was not missed at all, even by the semi comatose Valerie. She turned and glared at Sam. "She's been through enough, and those meds just make her sick."

"How would you know that Valerie?" Danny kept his voice strong, well strong as he could while whispering.

"When you overshadow people... do you learn things about them?" Valerie caught him off gaurd with that question, and the one following it. "When I was overshadowed, I felt... like, it was like an aftertaste of their feelings. She, the energy she made, I saw her. Her life, not all of it, but pieces. She was abused pretty badly at that Hospital. They called her crazy,so no one believed her." She smiled, brushing Alizet's hair. "She grew up in the hospital, headaches and Seizures mostly but quickly it was Voices and Hallucinations. They gave her new meds recently, a few months back, but had to wean her off the original meds. She realized then that she was hearing things that were happening... a man with cancer believing his cancer was deserved since he was cheating on his wife, a girl with third degree burns on her face... a boy with holes in his brain... "She shivered. "She realized they were thoughts. Some new, from people still living. Others were old, hiding in corners and drifting on the breeze. She figured it out, and knew you'd help her... you the Half Ghost. She learned her schedule and figured out how to escape."

They all stood at Valerie, focused on just how passionate she was.

"You got that from her in a minute?" Sam's voice dripped with Suspicion.

Oddly enough, Valerie just nodded. "Yes... and no. I can still hear her memories, she's holding onto my mind..."

Danny stepped over to his ex-girlfriend and placed a glowing hand on her body. A thin strand of purple energy connected her to the girl, it was whispy and weak but very much there.

"It feels like Ember's music, weaker but there." He leaned closer to the thread and his ghost sense went off before the thread snapped.

The girl woke with a gasp. "I, I... I'm here?" She smiled, weak and exhausted with happiness. "I'm free..." The tears that made their way down her face made him uncomfortable.

But it also hit home. "Her powers clearly mean she needs our help. She stays. Tell Jazz to get a hold of her care provider. We have a new patient in our Ghost Rehabilitation Program."
