No One Decides My Fate

A frail woman sat in the corner of her tower cell. Her only window showed that it was night out but the woman didn't care.

The clouds uncover the moon, letting it's moonlight illuminated the room. The woman lifts up her head, staring at the moon. Her brown hair hung in bloody clumps around her head. Tracks were made in her dirty cheeks, from tears shed from a broken heart and cleansing. Her sky blue eyes held no light, no sign of life. They were the eyes of a broken woman.

The clouds cover the moon again and the woman lowered her head back onto her knees.

"Why won't you believe me?"

"Because no one-no one! Could ever, ever! Love me!"

"But I did love you." The woman croaks out softly, her voice ruined from the many screams she gave.

She shifts on the cold floor and lets out a whimper as her body protests in pain. Scars and whip marks was all along her arms and back. Her dress was stained with her blood and dirt.

"Why do you spin so much?"

"It helps me forget."

"Forget what?"

"... I guess it worked!"

How she longed to forget. To forget everything that happened in the Dark Castle. To forget all those quips and conversations.

To forget him.

And her broken heart.

"And all you'll have. Is an empty heart. And a chipped cup."

And what did she have? Only a broken heart and no cup to hold onto. Not even it's chip.

The woman feels more tears leak from her eyes. She doesn't bother wiping them away. What would be the point? Only more would come.

"It's just a cup."

The woman clutches at her head, face screwed up in pain. "Just leave me alone." She whispers. "Why can't you leave me alone?"

"Oh no. I expect that I'll never see you again."

Why did she have to met the Queen? Why couldn't she have hid in the woods? Or better yet.

Never have listened to the Queen.

Never took her advice.

Never kissed Him.

Suddenly a very clear statement bursts through the confusing mass of conversations in her head.

"No one decides my fate. But me."

The woman looks back up. A new spark was in her eyes. A spark of bravery.

The moon came back out from behind the clouds.

She stands up and stumbles to the window, body screaming at her to sit back down.

She steps up into the still of the window and looks down, swallowing at the height.

"No one decides my fate. But me!"

A wind whips through lifting the tatters of her dress. The woman breathes in deeply, savoring the taste of spring on the wind.

"NO ONE, decides MY fate. BUT ME!"

She takes another deep breath, closing her eyes.

"My name is Belle." She whispers to the wind, the moon, the clouds.

To Him.

"And no one decides my fate. But me."

Belle steps off the window and into air.

...

What is with this couple and me not really being able to write non-angst stories for them? It's an addiction, I tell you!

Anyway. Yes in this, Belle really dies. It's an AU, dearies. Something that had been bobbing around in my head since February but never really wrote until now.

Also, have another story idea, also AU, but another different endings thing. So be on the lookout for that one!
