Why I Care

This is my first FanFic so don't be too angry if it doesn't reach your standards.
"Where are you?" asked Gwen's mom. "I'm at the hospital," answered Gwen. "Kevin got hurt in a fight so I'll be a bit late. Don't worry about me; I'm fine." "OK," said her mother and she hung up. Gwen put her mobile in her pocket and sat down on the chair beside Kevin's bed.
"I'm waiting outside," informed Ben understanding that the two needed some time to talk alone. After Ben left, Gwen grasped Kevin's hand and asked, "Why did you do this?"
"What do you mean?" asked Kevin. "You know what I mean," said Gwen. "You almost got killed trying to save me."
"Did I make a mistake?" asked Kevin. Gwen couldn't answer this but a tear rolled down her cheek. Kevin was a mess. A few broken ribs, a broken arm, his head was bandaged and his whole body was bruised. It was hard for her to see him in this condition. "Why did you risk your life? That too for me?" she asked.
With a sigh Kevin replied, "Because I care about you."
"And why exactly do you care about me?"
"You're the first person who actually showed me a bit of affection," said Kevin. "You care about me, you believe in me and you make me feel as if there's someone for me. I don't mind if I die if that means that you will live."
Kevin would never admit that he loved Gwen. But his words explained that he truly loved her. "Thank you Kevin," was all that Gwen could say through her tears.
I know this was short but as I said, this is my first FanFic. Please review. I'll write more stories if you review.
