The War of 5 Armies had been won, the Orcs, Goblins and Wargs had run off back into the mountains. The Elves were about to return to their forest but no one could see Tauriel anywhere; legolas stayed behind to search for her while the rest left. Tauriel was walking through the after math of the war for she had not seen Fili nor Kili at the camp with everyone else, she dreaded what she might see but she kept walking.
"Kili!?" she shouts
"Tauriel.."
she hears a faint voice call out to her she slowly turns prepared for what a waits her and there he is, Kili lying on the ground next to his brother Fili who is already dead. Tears streaming down her face she runs to his side and sees where the damage has been done. Kili has 2 arrows to his stomach and 1 to his left shoulder, he had lost a lot of blood but he was still living. Just. Tauriel looks over to Fili, he has an arrow to the neck and 2 in his back, she looks down and sees Fili holding Kilis hand.
"He may be older but that doesn't mean he won't need to hold some ones hand when he is scared" Kili says with tears in his eyes
"It won't be long before I will meet him, I will finally walk in your world, among the starlight"
"I can save you! I can heal you like I did with your leg!.. Please.." Tauriel grabs his other hand and holds it close to her heart
"I am proud to have thought with you instead of against you and the rest of the elves, who knows when dwarves and elves will fight alongside again... Stay with me?"
"Until the end" Tauriel smiles with sadness
"Do you think she could have loved me?"
"...Yes" tears streaming down Tauriels face as Kilis eyes cloud over and he is forever gone
Tauriel collapses over Kilis body crying she never heard Legolas walk up behind her
"Tauriel?"
She looks up with surprise
"I'm sorry.."
She knew he meant it and showed grief for the young dwarf yet somehow she couldn't accept it knowing he truly hated the dwarf for stealing her heart before anything else is said she runs, sprinting towards the forest but this time legolas does not chase her, he lets her go even though he knows she'll never return. He was right for no one heard from her again, once legolas returned to his people he told them she had died and had fought bravely, no one questioned this and all was at peace but legolas knew he must make it up to Tauriel...
60 years later legolas came across a dwarf he recognised from a picture, they started off hating each other but eventually a bond was formed and Gimli and Legolas were friends it wasn't till after the war of the ring that legolas saw tauriel again but it was only briefly but enough. Legolas and Gimli were travelling middle earth together until they came upon the outskirts of legolas' forest and there he saw her in a long white gown hidden among the trees but his elf eyes could see her and she was happy to see that legolas had befriended a dwarf as she had and knew she had changed his life for the better.
