Okay, so this came to me kind of randomly. I know it's really short, but it is a one shot... I hope you enjoy it! :)

Nepeta was curled up in her hive, listening to the soft purrs of her lusus. There was nothing important, or overly significant about the situation, but she enjoyed it, nonetheless. Knowing that Pounce was going to die was very unsettling for the young troll, but she decided not to worry about it too much.

Looking back at her shipping wall, Nepeta sighed. She knew some of her ships were doomed to sink, and she knew she was fated to be the shipper, and not to have a part in romance. It was fine, though, because she had her moirail.

As long as she had Equius and her friends, she didn't need any red- or black- romance in her life.
At least, that was what she told herself. Yes, she knew she had a crush on possibly the most oblivious troll she knew.

No matter how desperately she wanted to get rid of those useless emotions, she couldn't help but to hope.

Hope that someday, he may return her feelings, although that was a big stretch.

Hope that she could get the courage to tell him, and finally get some closure. No, he didn't like her that way. There would be tears, but she figured she could handle it. Eventually.

Even, hope that he would find out on his own, and she would go from there.

Suddenly feeling saddened by her downward thoughts, she crawled over to Pounce, and curled up next to her. Drifting off into a peaceful rest, Nepeta wished her love wasn't doomed from the start, and that she could just forget. But, there seemed to be something not letting her. As if, she had to love him.

Whenever she looked at him, she almost saw someone else, sometimes. She considered herself crazy at first, but she eventually came to terms with it.

She sometimes looked at Karkat, and saw someone who was misunderstood, strong, and, surprisingly, very caring and kind. Nepeta knew the stories about their ancestors, but she was possibly the only one who took the fables to heart. Her ancestor was in love with his. Of course, he loved her back.

But, in this world, it was all wrong. The Signless and Disciple's love transcended the four quadrants? Well then, there must've been something wrong with the history, because Karkat would barely spare a glance her way, not knowing how much he was hurting her, killing her, inside.
