A/N: Random oneshott of doomness. Written in about fifteen minutes, which is long for something like this, but I was multi tasking, so...

Don't own Death Note, so stop rubbing it in, damnit!

The game of love was a load of crap.

There were no life points.

There were no levels.

The bosses were bitchy-ass girls who weren't worth it anyway.

And you always, always, always ended up getting burned.

Despite this, Matt was utterly addicted to the game, and he knew that he'd never give it up. He could never, never win it, and he knew that there was really no hope, but he kept finding himself coming back again and again, playing this stupid game. He hate, hate, hated it, but he couldn't give it up.

The reason was the final boss.

Blond haired, blue eyed, with a crucifix, black leather, chocolate and a whole lot of temper, he could never win against that, but he couldn't help but try.

Matt was sitting on the couch, playing the newest Halo game for the third time that week, when Mello came home. He strode into the room, all black leather and swagger and radiating irritation as he slammed the door. He didn't spare Matt a glance as he headed toward the kitchen, just grumbled about the latest annoyance the world had dealt him before disappearing into the other room and digging through the grocery bag lying on the table.

No, 'Saw you on the news today. Any of those bullets actually hit you?'

No, 'Hey Matt, thanks for nearly getting killed to run those errands for me.'

No. Not even a hello, just a complaint and straight for the chocolate. Which Matt had gone out of his way to buy for him. Like he did every day, even though he had his hands full with all the other shit Mello asked him to do. With no thanks, not even any acknowledgement. But it was fine, he was used to it. Really, it was worth it, just to be able to play the game, even if he knew he could never win.

"Hey, Mells?" Matt asks, looking from the screen toward the kitchen.

"What?" Snappish. Annoyed. Pissed.

"… Nevermind."

GAME OVER

Would you like to play again?

Yes/No

Matt always chose 'Yes'

A/N: Yes. It's crap. But... if you read it through the end you must have an oppion on it, even if it's merely 'meh,' so... tell me in a review? Please?
