He turns to ash before her.

There are so many things binding her, so many ties that wrap around her fingers and body – Ishida's arm, Kurosaki's hollow hole, Las Noches, the Hyougoku, her friends (nakama) in the world before (beside) – but right now it is his form dissolving into ash that she cannot turn away from.

There is so much to remember, and so little time to do so. But she does. The air suffocates, her lungs filling with dust; the lingering lines of his reaching hand are burned into her mind.

What is a heart.

Did he learn what it is? (what if he hasn't? what is the meaning of life not knowing what it is? he can't die not knowing, not never knowing!)

She has a choice to make; this may destroy and break many things, but there is nothing she cannot fix with her two hands. Her actions will give rise to reactions, and Ishida might look at her in horror and Kurosaki in confusion, but she is not afraid. Not when there is something more important than an arm and something she cannot understand.

I'm not afraid.

So she raises her hands and commands time to flow back.

I reject.
