Author's Note:
(This is my first fic)
The only thing here that belongs to me is the OC Erling.
~Preview~
"Confound it All! Samwise Gamgee and Erling Cotton-have you eavesdropping?!" Gandalf says, pinnings us to the ground with the staff, staring at us, I gulp as my heartbeat suddenly quickens and a drop of sweat trickles down my neck.
I glance at Sam, who looks back at the wizard, "We've been droppin' no eaves, sir! Honest, Erling came up to me to help while I was cuttin' the grass under the window there, if you follow me..."
The wizard doesn't blink, his staff seemingly coming closer to our faces, glowing as if it were going to shoot something at us. I begin to speak, my voice breaking, "Please Master Wizard, don't turn us into any ungodly creature, or a frog, that is!" my face was already drenched in sweat. This was it, we were both going to either going to get turned into monsters or turned into dust. I should have listened to my mum and went with Rosie and the others back to Bywater pool yesterday...
There was a short silence, and the only thing that could've been heard was the roaring fire and the crickets in the night.
"So," the wizard says, "what did you hear? Speak!" his voice was loud, filling the entire Hobbit-hole.
I fidget at the sound of his booming voice, call him what you will, the wizard was intimidating, that was for sure.
Sam begins to speak, "Noth-nothing important that is...j-just something about a Dark Lord, a ring of power, something about the end o' the world and everything we know, but please-Mr. Wizard, sir, don't turn us into monsters-or anything unnatural!" he says, covering his face with his hand.
Gandalf seems to put away it's staff, but it's glow still seems to shimmer throughout the entire living room.
"No?" he says, dubious over what to do with us.
Frodo smiles, as if they had some sort of a sinister plan for us two.
"No...I've thought of a better use for you two..."
Of course, this is only a preview chapter (and an idea), and will not be as long as a real first chapter.
Reviews are always appreciated and Constructive Criticism will be gladly welcomed, and if any of you wish to flame me, then please do so while pointing out the mistakes within the fic. Thanks for reading, and have a nice day.
