A Marauder Always Prospers

She walked to Charms speedily, carefully making sure not to knockdown a younger student – she was Head Girl, meaning they all looked up to her as an example – the same could not be said for the boy chasing her at the moment.

"Evans! Wait!"

She ignored him, making sure to walk faster. He did the same and she made no effort to hide her scowl at the fact.

"Wait a minute!"

She turned a corner; she was just a hallway away from the classroom, from peace.

"Lily!"

Just 50 steps, and she heard that – that boy speed up.

"Wait up!"

The voice came from less than a few meters behind her, and it sounded like he was catching up. Quickly. But she only had 40 more steps until she reached the safe haven that was the classroom.

"Lily Evans! Wait for me right there!"

The voice sounded like it was trying to sound commanding. She snorted quietly, for it was such a weak attempt. It only made her walk slightly faster.

"Hello? Extremely handsome and funny guy calling?"

She was running by now, red hair waving behind her, shining under the sunlight that filtered through the sizable windows lining the hallway. She snorted at what he said, still not understand how someone so repugnant could be so arrogant.

Ten steps.

Nine.

Eight.

Seven.

Six.

Five.

Four.

Three.

Two-

A mere step from the door and she was pulled backwards gently but firmly, maybe a little too firmly, if you asked her. Her green eyes observed as she was locked in with the same boy from seconds before in a broom closet.

"Potter..." She growled angrily.

James – or Potter, as she would rather refer to him as - at least had the decency to look a smidge shameful, although she strongly suspected it was pretence. He would smile or something soon. Surprisingly, his mouth turned up in a small, shy, genuine smile. Not a cocky, superficial smirk.

"Lily?" His voice was quiet, shy. "Doyouwannagodatewithme?"

Lily missed it, too shocked by his sudden character change, wherever had the arrogant Potter gone. Why, only a minute before he was chasing her with all the confidence in the world.

"Do you want to," he took a deep breath. "Go on a date with me?"

Still surprised and entranced by him, she nodded – not quite smiling, but not exactly frowning either. This seemed to be a good thing, as James' face immediately brightened up. He kissed her cheek quickly [before she could hit him for it] and practically skipped out of the door, calling a joyful 'Great! 7pm on Friday!' behind him.

Five minutes later, she woke from her trance, to recall her 'arrangement' with James.

Every seventh year rushing into Charms so as to not be late paused in shock as they heard a loud shout from a broom cupboard, proceeded by the sight of a slightly red but also halfway angry Lily Evans screaming in what was either frustration, or elation.

I don't really like it much, but I was checking out old one-shots and... Well... What's the damage in posting this? You can clearly see it was from more than a year ago. So there.
