Ocean Spray

The people of Kilika milled on the edge of the splintered and destroyed dock. Men, women, and children sobbing with anger and sorrow at the ruins Sin had left behind. Yuna watched them all as she strode carefully around the jagged boards. She'd offered to do the Sending, since no one else could, and a cold stone had settled in her heart. Sin would be annihilated. For the shattered people around her, she would sacrifice herself to be sure that the monster reached its end.

She cocked her head slightly to look at Tidus and the others as she reached the end of the wooded boardwalk. Loose planks sticking out like foreboding teeth. Tidus was mystified as Yuna's slender, pale feet stepped over the wreckage and touched down on the crystal clear water. Not sinking. Letting out a deep breath, Yuna prayed quickly to Yevon for the Sending's success.

Waltzing carefully forward, the sea rippling under the golden curl in her staff, Yuna lifted it away from her body and softly swung it, turning her robes into a floating arc very similar to the petals of a rose. Streaks of iridescent light rose from the red peonies swathed in white cloth hidden deep in the sand below, cascading through the sky as the yellow, pink, red, and orange hues blushed over the atmosphere.

The Kilika men and woman mourned, as the pyreflies soared into the fading sun and disappeared, to be peaceful and free in the fields of the Farplane.

Tears slicked the Lady Summoner's cheeks as the sea flew around her, the ocean spray tickling her toes and stinging her eyes with its salty spirit. The last of the deceased whipped and scattered all around the whirlpool, as it came to a shaky stop. The pools falling back, the wispy remains twinkling away into the horizon.

"I hope, I hope I did okay." the woman rasped, chocolate brown hair plastered to her face as she approached the walkway once more. Lulu, garbed in a plethora of belts and black, purple gems gleaming around her neck, smiled gently down on the Lady Yuna. Setting her almost sleeve swallowed hands on her shoulders.

"You did very well." she assured, lifting a hand to wave some tears away, "No tears next time though, hmm?"

Yuna spared a weak grin. Still remembering the tickle of the salt on her skin.

I do not own Final Fantasy X or any of its characters.

This was my very first FF! I hope I portrayed the solemn beauty of the Sending, I've always wanted to try to do so. Anyways, please review! Thanks for reading!
