I've had this thought ever since I totally thought that Gideon was going to kill himself and I was freaking out about it lol.

Prologue

Spencer drove slowly up to the cabin, concern flickering in him. He could tell that Gideon was going through something. Sarah's death affected him greatly, changed him. Reid wanted to help, but wasn't sure how.

Gideon was the only real fatherly figure he knew. He felt something was wrong when he walked up those steps.

Something just didn't feel right. Things were quiet, too quiet.

"Gideon?" He knocked on the door. "Gideon?" He pushed the door open. He froze at what he saw. There was a body laying on the floor, covered in blood. It was Gideon's. His gun was in his hand. There was a note on the table addressed to Reid. Reid just stood there, at first in shock.

"Gideon!" He shouted, coming out of the slow motion trance. He raced to the body, knowing that the old man was already dead, but praying for a miracle. "No..." He collapsed against the wall, holding his hand to his mouth as he stared at the body, stared at the blood. "No..." Tears were in his eyes.

This wasn't happening, not to him. Not to the team. Gideon COULDN'T...

Why?

Numbly he called the cops, like he was supposed to. He stared at the suicide letter that was addressed to him. He just couldn't bring himself to read it. There was no excuse to why Gideon would kill himself.

Didn't he know the team needed him?

That REID needed him?

As he waited for the cops to arrive he sat there, collapsed on the floor, staring at the body of his old mentor and started to sob.
