Just something I've always wanted to do. Very dark and involves a major character death. Kleenexs needed. Enjoy and please review.

CICICICICICICICICI
If someone had asked him what his worst fear was a while ago, Robert Goren would have answered, "To lose my mind."
He closed his eyes and rested his dark head against the wall. Now that answer was no longer true.
Her laughter filled his ears, and the feel of her skin under his fingertips flooded his senses. She had been the only one to truly understand him, and fully accept him. No one ever had like her.
A tear rolled down his cheek as he slid down to the floor. This wasn't right. Not like this. The weight of her limp form in his arms, the smell of iron as blood, her blood, filled the air.
The feel of her pliant lips beneath his.
The sounds of his own screams as he begged and pleaded for her to stay with him.
The look in her hazel eyes as she told him that she loved him, that she always would.
His arms cradling her as though she were a delicate doll made of the finest china, and even the slightest move would break her permanently.
Her eyes closing... No...
The sound of her gentle heart moving in an attempt to keep her alive.
He sobbed and buried his fingers in his unruly curls. Why...?
He remembered everything with perfect clarity, up until she drew her last breath in his arms. Then... nothing.
"Bobby..."
He shook his head violently and burrowed deeper into himself. He should have done a better job protecting her. People they worked with had always warned her that he would get her killed; that being the partner of the departmental 'whackjob' was unsafe.
They were right.
She came closer to him, still whispering his name.
Why couldn't she just leave him alone?
He slammed his head back against the wall and trembled. "I'm so sorry, Alex. God, I'm sorry."
He finally looked up, and again he found himself completely alone in the isolated room. Always alone... She was never really there...
Yet before he knew it, she would be back, reminding him of all that he had lost.
Including his damn sanity.
The End.
A/N: Don't kill me! Please review.
