A/N: LONG first chapter, kinda boring, I am impressed with myself though. Please review if you want me to continue, I would enjoy hearing from you guys! :D This is set in Ocarina of Time, with references to Skyward Sword, a little bit of Hyrule Warriors...? Well, weapon references anyway. So enjoy!
And review. :)
The princess felt conflicted.
Of course ruling such a vast land was no small talk, all the princess ever did was work. She organized peace treaties between neighboring lands, she conducted trades of Hyrule's valuable goods, monitored all the regions in then wide land of Hyrule, and much more. Hyrule was bathed in light an it was the land known for their dedication to the goddesses. Hyrule was a paradice, and everyone inside lived peaceful happy lives. There were no wars were raging on with Hyrule, the place was known as heaven on Earth.
But to keep this peace, the princess often did things she wished she didn't have to. Just over the horizon, another land existed of burning sand and hate. The people there only worshiped the wrath of Demise, a demon king known for his power and destruction. These people were from the Gerudo desert, Gerudians lived there under the word of the male leader. The Gerudians consisted of mainly women, and only one male came from these many women. The male was worshiped and crowned their leader by birth. The Gerudo Desert always had a corrupt leader that would only bring pain and destruction.
Princess Zelda met with the greedy King, Ganondorf, in order to keep Hyrule at peace. It was obvious that Hyrule could destroy the desert because of how outnumbered the Gerudians were, but through the war, hardships were most likely to occur in the land. Loss of medical supplies, drought, food shortage, Zelda couldn't risk it. Each month the princess and her trusted attendant, Impa, would deliver food and supplies to the desert for the promise of anything the princess desired which was peace and a few materials of the desert.
Zelda was conflicted.
Obviously she hated Ganondorf with every fiber of her soul, but she couldn't lead her people to their deaths either. But something else brought her there, something she couldn't name. It was almost like her body acted on its own despite her mind screaming not to go.
She couldn't help but feel as if perhapsher triforce of wisdom was silently speaking to her. She wasn't sure though. She had no idea how to use her part of the Triforce, and she couldn't fully understand why the goddess of wisdom chose her. But it was something in the back of her head that told her to go, that told her to keep going. Something was there and she needed to find what it was.
Just as every month went, Princess Zelda ventured into the desert not looking forward to the confrontation. The heat was blinding, the sand got everywhere, it was a journey the princess didn't want to take. But she had to.
For the sake of Hyrule.
"Princess, you seem tense, do you require water?" The woman beside the princess offered a flask to the princess but it was denied.
"No Impa. I am fine." The girl felt something move inside her as they neared the gates, a feeling that she didn't understand. It was something in the pit of her stomach that she could only describe as guilt. But why guilt?
The older woman nodded and looked forward to the entrance to the village. Impa didn't require the Princess to explain herself, the woman had cared for the girl since the passing of the king and queen, she knew every look, every movement, every twitch. The woman knew what the going princess was thinking. But although she knew how the princess would act,she couldn't feel what Zelda felt, and the princess hid the fact she felt strange feelings from her attendant.
Zelda jumped as the heavy gate was lifted, a land of death being opened in front of her and her guards.
"Ah, my princess, how nice it is to see out this lovely day." The voice was harsh and it held a hint of smugness to it. The man stood there casually sipping on a glass of wine. No doubt he knew she hated him, but he still liked to abuse her generosity. It only proved how weak Hylians were.
"Ganondorf." The princess greeted almost lifelessly as she got off her horse. She was already making a mental note to change her clothes once she reached Hyrule again, dirt was already ruining the hem of her dress.
"Have a bad trip? My servants will be happy to do whatever you wish." He growled and snapped his fingers, a few slaves running by to help the princess, cowering in fear when they passed their master. If he were to strike out at them, there would be little to nothing they could do to defend themselves. Ganondorf's massive size was enough to overpower anyone, especially a slave who was small and fragile from the harsh conditions and starvation.
That was another thing. Zelda had servants who willingly served her, Ganondorf had slaves who's only purpose was to suffer. They were meaningless to Ganondorf and he and he had a lot of slaves who had accidentally drifted in from other regions. Something Zelda always saw was how many of his slaves were Hylian. It was obvious they were Hylian. The pointed ears, the common features, the Hylian accents, these were her people. Ganondorf seemed to favor kidnapping Hylians, and Princess Zelda rescued as many as she could without being caught. She felt horrible when she looked to the faces of the children he had captured... sometimes she would pay him over ten thousand rupees just for a couple slaves. She wanted to free them all. It always seemed like children were there in shackles, all Zelda could think about was how easy it was to kidnap a small child compared to a full grown adult.
Ganondorf only had a handful of slaves in his own village though. Somewhere in the desert was a village, and that village held hundreds of his slaves. She would fight for them, to break them free. She couldn't deny how bad she wanted to overthrow Ganondorf so the evil would stop.
Princess Zelda actually started plans for an invasion and counterattack when Ganondorf brought the idea of marriage to her attention. Unfortunately, she was in themiddle of a drink when he asked for her hand in marriage, she had almost ended up spitting the liquid into the man's face to avoid chocking. Never would she marry him.
Her stomach turned violently when she saw Ganondorf kick a slave to the side so she could pass through. She despised this man. She smiled kindly to the slaves that were trying to help her (although they didn't know how to help her so they were standing -or cowering was a better description- there waiting for instruction.) She noted the features on these people. The color of their hair, their eyes, their age. She wanted to save these people...
She kindly waved them off being sure to show kindness. These were people, not rabid dogs.
"Have you thought of my marriage proposal?" Ganon asked.
"No. Honestly the thought of marriage hadn't crossed my mind. I'm just not looking for anyone right now." Zelda answered truthfully. She wasn't looking for a husband, and even if she was, she'd never choose this beast.
"Well I suppose that would make sense, you are only a young age of 20 are you not?"
Age was another topic she tended to avoid. Ganondorf tended to remind her of her age, he often told her that she was becoming too old to run an entire country by herself. He would then try and persuade her of all the possibilities of uniting Hyrule and the dessert, (under his rule since he would be king) but it didn't appeal to her and she always promised him she'd think about it.
Zelda commanded her soldiers to take the wagon back the usual spot near stables be unloaded. Once alone, Ganondorf hinted towards marriage again but Zelda ignored his comments.
"I wish to rest, I am tired." She interrupted not caring that he was in the middle of a sentence.
Ganondorf felt anger creep into his veins. The princess was ignoring him yet again. But never the matter, as long as he was nice and gentle, the princess would marry him in due time, then he'd repay Hyrule for what their previous king did toGanondorf and his people.
"Of course. This way as always." The evil man led her to the throne room briefly, the place where true suffering existed. It was dark, only lit by a few touches but that was it, it was creepy and this was what Ganon called "home." This room is where beatings occurred, where trials were held, this was where Ganondorf sat as he watched his slaves do dirty, horrible things to each other for his amusement.
He grabbed something from the monstrous throne, and they then continued the journey into a private sitting room where they would not be disturbed.
This room was more lit and had giant gaping holes in the walls instead of windows, it was the aftermath of the original castle after the prior king of Hyrule bombed the desert. Zelda took a seat and watched Ganondorf with close eyes. She didn't trust him.
"Comfortable?" The evil man asked as he stared out of one of the holes in the wall. "I found though Daphnes meant to destroy, he only created a better room, I can see all of my people."
"Ganondorf-"
The man turned harshly, interrupting the princess. "But if he wanted to destroy such a vast and powerful land, he should have reduced it to ash instead of rubble."
"My father didn't want to kill you or your people, but you invaded us first." Zelda argued. "He felt the need to show you just how much power Hyrule had."
"Which is why we have this agreement to meet every month." The man sat across from Zelda. "But such a young desert flower shouldn't have to venture into the harsh sands."
"I am no flower, you don't know who I am."
"Perhaps because you do not let me." Ganondorf growled. "But if I am correct you are still innocent. Ah yes, you are a divine rare flower. Your petals are ripe and perfect, no other male has touched you before have they?"
The princess blushed harshly not liking how casual he was talking about her sex life.
"Not even a first kiss I assume? You really are a rare beauty. Imagine, your first child being that of Hylian and Gerudian blood, they will be the contract for a united kingdom."
"I am not interested in uniting with any other country right now. Hyrule is fine where it is. I am also not looking into having children right now either." The princess said rather harshly and she watched Ganondorf back down. Why did he do that? Usually he would try to keep pushing the proposal down her throat.
"So be it." He mumbled. "Do you require water or anything of the sort?"
"No. I don't." How did she know he wouldn't poison her? "A few of my ranch owners have gone missing." She subconsciously looked to a hole in the wall, noticing something strange...
"Really now?" Ganon whispered with a small smile. Zelda looked the other way.
"Yes. An older man and his daughter have gone. Know anything about them?" Zelda questioned, knowing he had them.
"Perhaps they passed through an area they were not allowed to?" Ganondorf suggested.
"I believe they were kidnapped on route." Zelda replied aiming a soft glare to the bigger man. "Their route in Hyrule to be exact."
"I doubt my people would touch them. The man was far too fat to carry. Besides, my people don't go to Hyrule." He did know who she was talking about. He knew what the man looked like and that was all the princess needed to know.
"With enough help, you could've dragged his unconscious body away." She suggested.
"You are accusing me now?" The king asked, raising a brow slightly.
"I suppose I am." The princess replied confidently.
"Search the village, I assure you will find no one out of place here."
"I am not speaking of this village." Zelda looked to the other, unamused and irritated. It was like talking to a child.
"I believe it would be best if you were to leave princess. I am far too busy to deal with your games."
"Then I shall be on my way." The princess stood and walked back to the stables. She knew this place better than she wanted to.
Impa was eager to hear what she had to say and wasted no time for greetings. "Princess what-"
"I believe there is a village north of here. I saw a group of Gerudians going north a little while ago." The princess interrupted quietly so she wouldn't be heard by anyone else.
"We best return to Hyrule then. It looks as if it could rain." Impa announced to the guards. The Gerudo women gave the Hylians confused looks as they looked into the perfect, cloudless sky.
The princess was soon on her way back to Hyrule again, already thinking of a plan to get to the village. If she left during the day, there wouldn't be many monsters to look for, but she risked being seen. If she left during the night, she could blend in with the darkness and not worry about being seen so easily, but the worry was all the monsters out at night.
Upon leaving, she heard a horrible, pained cry echo off the walls of a nearby valley. The princess stopped and looked into the valley.
"Impa I..."
"Your highness. We must move quickly. Dusk is near and the desert is unforgiving at night."
"I know but... give me a minute..." Zelda got off her horse and walked hesitantly to the small narrow valley. Another cry was heard and curiosity got the better of her. She ran for the person who needed help. The person was crying for mercy in the Gerudian language. Zelda was sure of it.
"You two, keep an eye on the wagons and my horse, no one will enter this valley!" Impa commanded the guards before running after Zelda.
The princess felt the sand bury itself deep within her shoes, she knew the dirt was tearing at the hem of her dress as she ran, but as she went further inside, the sound of sobbing only grew.
The princess stopped at the entrance to a secluded area, away from civilization, but still within Ganondorf's jurisdiction.
A few gerudian women dragged a small boy to a wall and slammed him against it, yelling at him in gerudian tongue.
She couldn't fully understand them, she knew little of their language, but the boy cried back in gerudian, something along the lines of he was sorry and hurt. The woman held up her fist as if to punch him, he cowered but wasn't able to protect himself due to the shackles around his wrists. He was a slave...
"H-hey! What are you doing?!" Zelda glared to the women.
"Why princess, we not see you enter." One of the women chuckled and dropped the boy, the other kicking him in the stomach.
"Business." The other added, her accent was heavy and she almost couldn't be understood.
"I want that boy." Zelda declared without hesitation. Her tongue moved faster than her brain and she froze.
"Him? But he is... runt, weak, why you want?" The first woman questioned.
Zelda pulled out rupees from her small satchel on her hip. "Here, a thousand for each of you. I just want the boy."
"Our leader choose to say yes. We are low in ranks. We not decide." The woman looked to the rupees with greed. "But... this is sufficient payment..."
"I paid for him. He is now mine." Zelda looked to the boy on the ground, curled into the fetal position. "And I was told as long as I paid, I could have any slave I wanted." She was lying. Ganon didn't let her have any slaves without his permission.
"Fine. We leave. But don't get mad for defective slave." The two women left, laughing in their own language.
"Princess!" Impa ran to Zelda. "You cannot allow yourself to go into areas like this unattended."
Zelda ignored Impa and knelt to the unconscious child. "Impa..."
The older woman looked and gasped.
The small child was bruised and bloodied, he was cut and abused, and the princess had too big of a heart to leave him. But there was something else about him... she couldn't put her finger on it. The princess looked to Impa, tears in her own eyes. Her heart went out for the boy.
"Can you get him out of here and in a wagon undetected?"
"Of course. It will be my honor." Impa bowed respectfully. "But we need to hurry. The wagons and our horses will surely arouse suspicion if left unattended."
"Of course." Zelda stood and Impa picked up the boy gently. "Please... be gentle with him..."
"Sometimes, I do wonder if you fully understand what trouble you cause." Impa chuckled as she carried the boy through the valley.
Zelda smiled softly and wiped away the tears. "I truly am troublesome, aren't I?"
The two made it to a wagon and Impa laid the boy inside. Zelda peeked inside the wagon to the boy until she heard footsteps.
"Princess-"
Zelda spun in surprise and closed the curtain to the wagon. "G-Ganon!"
"Yes?" The male raised a brow in suspicion.
"Oh... uh... what... what do you want?"
"I wanted to see what was wrong."
Ganondorf looked around to the group of Hylian guards.
"Wrong? Nothing's wrong, why would something be wrong?" Zelda was nervous and talking faster than usual. In the back of her mind, she told herself to take a deep breath and calm down, but she couldn't.
"Are you alright?"
"Fine! I'm fine! More than fine! I'm great! Well, I got to go now. Sun down is near, see you next month bye!" Zelda crawled into the wagon and closed the curtain.
Almost a second later, the curtain was ripped back and Zelda jumped in shock.
"How about a goodbye kiss?" The pig had an enormous grin on his face.
"Excuse me?" She was shocked, appalled and disgusted to the point of nausea. She could feel the bile rising in the back of her throat at the thought.
Ganondorf smirked cruelly. "Don't make me come in there." Zelda hesitated and Ganon moved to go into the wagon and Zelda froze not knowing what to do.
The boy behind her moved softly and Ganondorf stopped.
"What was-" He was interrupted by the princesses soft lips crashing into his own rough, dry ones. He took advantage of her at this point and grabbed the back of her soft blonde hair and pulled her closer much to her disliking.
"Mmph!" She started to fight him as his hand started to travel to her breast, her mind screaming for her to move, fight, to get away from this man. She tried to slap him but her arm was caught in his big one as he kissed down her neck.
"Help!" Zelda cried as soon as her mouth was free. She bit her lip in horror as his hand roamed over her entire chest, groping and feeling.
Impa appeared in a flash and knocked the greedy king back away from the princess. She pulled her Naginata out and held the blade to his throat threateningly.
"You sick pervert!" Zelda yelled at him feeling violated and dirty.
"My apologies." Ganondorf stood back up and dusted the sand off effortlessly pushing the blade away as if Impa was only holding a stick to his throat.
"That is no excuse. If we were in Hyrule I would have the right to slice your hand off right here and now." Impa hissed at him. "Or better yet, your head."
"Too bad you're in my village, right?" The king waved and walked back to his castle with an evil smile.
"Pig." The sheikah woman hissed as she put her blade away.
"I will stay with the boy." Zelda informed with a blush as she looked to the child. The princess was trembling and she looked scared. Impa climbed into the wagon and put a hand on her upper back rubbing soothing circles across her back.
"It is best we leave now. The walls have ears." Impa told her quietly trying to avoid another conflict with the Gerudians.
"His hands were..." The princess couldn't believe what had just happened moments before Impa had arrived.
"It was my fault. I became distracted and I wasn't watching and it was my fault he took advantage of you." Impa bowed her head in shame.
"No... I started it... I kissed him..." Impa's head snapped up in horror. "He was about to discover the boy and I couldn't let him take the boy away so I..."
Impa stopped her from continuing. "It is alright. But we must leave now before he returns."
Zelda nodded. "I agree." Impa left the wagon and got on her own horse.
"Onward." Impa declared, and the small group moved forward through the desert. Zelda sat with the child and thought back to what Ganondorf did. She was so embarrassed right now. She didn't know if she could face Ganondorf again.
Meanwhile, Ganon stood at the top of the ruined palace and watched the Hylians leave.
"Sir?" Nabooru approached cautiously sensing something was off.
"She took the boy I can feel it." The dark king growled lowly. He could feel the child's presence waning and becoming faint.
"What shall we do?" The woman asked knowing what this could mean.
"As my soon to be bride, you should capture him, and return him as a gift for your king." The evil man didn't even look to her.
Nabooru nodded and bowed respectfully. "How shall I do it?"
"It would be best to have him there for a while, so once we capture him, he will be able to lead us through Hyrule and take us to its weakest points. But I have a plan. We will kidnap the child and force her to come back for him. When she does, I will put him in a life or death situation. Once she sees he could die, she will do anything to stop it and that is the day we marry. I will overthrow Hyrule and kill the child anyway."
"This will work?" Nabooru questioned not seeing the princess doing anything of the sort.
"I tried something. I kissed her, and she thought she was hiding the boy. She kissed me first just so I wouldn't notice the boy. Already, she has shown she wants to keep him alive."
"I see." Nabooru was aware of the situation. She was his arranged bride (though it didn't matter, he was supposed to sleep with every girl in the village) but Zelda would be his wife until she was locked away for eternity. She would only marry him to untie Hyrule and the desert.
Ganondorf chuckled darkly at the thought. He would get his revenge, oh yes, and he would make every Hylian suffer the wrath of an angry Gerudian king. This boy was the key, he was the key to victory.
