*Fairies are human size in this story*
Long ago, in a land full of magic and adventure, there lived a fairy named Lucy. She was not just any fairy though, she was the king's daughter, and the next to rule the fairy kingdom. Because of this she was under constant supervision, her father never allowing her to leave the castle grounds. One day, she managed to escape her guard's watchful eye, and head into the fairy forest.
She walked instead of flew, she wanted to soak in her new surroundings as much as possible, knowing that they would notice her absence very soon. Lucy smiled brightly as she marveled at the world around her, the bright sun shining off of her blonde hair radiantly. "I never want to go back," she sighed in complete satisfaction.
Lucy began to make her way deeper and deeper into the forest, the atmosphere quickly changing from pleasant and inviting, to dark and dangerous. She could just hear her sisters back home telling her "I told you so". At this point she had no idea where she was, the sound of seemingly big creatures filing her ears. She wanted to cry and scream out for her father, but she knew she had to keep moving, because if she didn't, she could lose more than a few tears.
Dead trees and plants surrounded her as she walked, an eerie fog resting on the ground. Her once perfect dress was now ripped up the side, the green silk beyond repair. She felt like she had been walking for hours on end, and she was ready to give up, but something had managed to catch her eye.
Between a pair of tree's she could see a clearing, and in that clearing she saw something, rather someone. Tears began to flood down her face, she had finally found someone who could help her get home! Lucy raced towards the unknown person, who seemed to be lounging on a giant boulder. "Excu…" was all she managed to get out of her mouth before she was interrupted by a growl.
"Who's there?" the voice growled. "Show yourself or die!"
Lucy had managed to hide behind a tree before the person had seen her, but they knew she was there. She had no choice. Slowly, Lucy walked out from behind the tree, her hands clasped behind her back, and her face still wet with tears. As she looked up to meet the persons gaze, she gasped. Standing before her was something she had never seen before. He had the wings of a dragon that seemed to stretch out ten feet, the color making them seem like a blazing fire. On his head rested two horns, one on each side, which also shared the same fiery red color as his wings. Even though he had these dragon like features, the rest of him appeared to be human.
His seemingly glowing amber eyes locked on her, confused and guarded. "What is a fairy doing here?" he questioned harshly.
Lucy watched the strange boy before her, she couldn't believe her eyes. Quickly, she shook her head. "I…I got lost. I don't know how to get home," she could feel the tears running down her face again. "Oh…no stop crying Lucy," she told herself. "It's not going to solve anything," but yet she couldn't stop them.
The dragon watched as she fell to her knees, her face in her hands as she cried. He was stunned, he had never seen a fairy before, especially a crying one. "Uh, hey don't cry," he took a clawed hand and rubbed the back of his neck.
Lucy's head snapped up at his sudden gentle tone. She hadn't expected it form someone who looked so deadly. "I'm sorry," she sniffed as she began to compose herself. After a few more moments she came to her senses and stood up once more.
She continued to observe him, curious about what exactly he was. His chest was bare, as well as his feet, the only thing he had on were a pair of torn up pants. "Um, what exactly are you?" she questioned as she slowly made her way closer to him.
The dragon boy's eyes widened at her sudden question, he expected her to run away from him, not get closer. "I'm a dragon of course!" he stated proudly.
She stopped about a foot and a half away from him and tilted her head. "But why do you have the body of a human?"
"Hey! I'm not just some dragon you know," he suddenly became defensive, but it wasn't in an aggressive way, more like irritation. "I am the next Dragon king!" he puffed his chest out.
Lucy suddenly recalled her history lessons about the Dragon kingdom. The Fairy kingdom had a treaty with them, even though they still weren't all that friendly with each other. "So you're the prince?"
"Exactly," he smirked. "So don't just think you can talk to me. You're just a common fairy."
Lucy's face suddenly became red, she was known to have quite a temper. "For your information, I happen to be the next fairy queen!"
His eyes suddenly went wide. "You are? What the hell are you doing here?" he questioned nervously.
"I wanted to explore," she blushed slightly. "I'm forbidden to leave the castle grounds, and am under constant supervision, and I hate it! So, I decided to sneak out and explore on my own since no one would take me, but it seems as though I got lost, and ended up here."
As he plopped back down on the boulder, the dragon boy sighed heavily. "You idiot, if you were told not to leave, you shouldn't have. Look where it got you, alone with a dragon who could potentially attack you."
"But you won't will you? If you were going to you would have already," Lucy spoke softly, but she was still very nervous.
He opened one of his closed eyes to look at her, he found her very interesting. "What's your name?"
Lucy was caught off guard. "It's Lucy."
"Well Lucy, you're lucky you found me and not some other dragon because they would have eaten you whole. Even though we have that treaty, a dragon won't hesitate to eat a fairy on sight. It's disgusting!" He got up off of the boulder. "I can take you back."
Lucy suddenly perked up. "Really? You will?"
"Yeah, but if you get annoying," he paused, a smirk registering on his face. "I'll rip your throat out."
After hearing that, Lucy was questioning her new guide, but what other choice did she have? She just nodded, following behind him.
