"NOOOO!" A scream came from Touko as she slumped to the ground, defeated. Throwing her Wii remote she screamed, "Not the blue shell! I was about to win!"
Touya was smiling to himself, happy with his victory, while Touko was rethinking her very existence on the floor.
"Why do bad things only happen to good people?" She pondered, standing up. "Oh, and I want a rematch!"
"Touko this is our fifth rematch..." Touya said, criss-crossing his legs on the couch.
"Don't care." Touko stated as she selected Baby Peach, this was because Baby Peach was the best, obviously.
However, Touya had a trick up his sleeve.
"This one is for all the marbles." Touya smiled as he selected infamous Rainbow Road as the course. Touko paled a little, but she gripped the remote with determination.
Minutes later, the race started, and by the last lap, the pair were neck and neck. Touko was in first, with Touya right behind her.
Both would try to knock the other off the road, but surprisingly, neither had fallen into the abyss that is space.
"Come on just fall off already!" Touko yelled, leaning against Touya, as if that would help.
"In your dreams, Madonna!" Touya yelled back, leaning back against Touko.
"Madonna?!" Touko glared.
"You have 80's hair!" Touya said, keeping his eyes on the prize.
"W-what...? Does it really look bad?" Touko asked, slightly self conscious.
Touya's eyes wander to Touko, he didn't intend to be so mean.
"N-no... It was just friendly banter..." Touya stammered.
"Nuh-uh!" Touko yelled. "You think it looks bad, don't you?!"
"N-no! I-!" They were both cut off as the screen flashed with alarm.
Both racers were blown off the course right in front of the finish line. A CPU Luigi had thrown a blue shell.
The trainer duo stared at the screen, shocked. Then Touko began to giggle, then Touya began to giggle. Soon enough both were thrown into a loud and long laughing fest.
When they finally regained their breath, Touya held his hand out.
"Tie?"
Touko took his hand and shook it, smiling.
"Tie."
