He couldn't remember how many times he had fixed this circuit. Siler sighed heavily. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy his work, it was just the monotony of fixing the same piece of crap that got under his skin from time to time. The uncomfortable location of this particular circuit did not help to improve his mood. Why was it always on his roster that this circuit malfunctioned? He was going to have to train up some of the newbies, he was too old to crawl on the floor.

Startled by 2 sets of boots passing precariously near his face, Siler snapped out of his grumbling to catch a glimpse of Major Carter and her CO standing toe to toe in what seemed to be a heated disagreement. Siler stopped moving, trying not to draw attention to his presence. Oh how he wished he was somewhere other than here! He didn't want to be a witness to this!

Although their stance showed that they were clearly agitated, their breathing laboured, they exchanged no words. He flicked his eyes from one to the other. Her eyes were flashing, his face stony and Siler shivered from the tension. Oh how he wished he was at home instead of seeing these two officers face off, but like watching a train wreck, Siler couldn't turn away.

"Carter" the Colonel snapped out.

"Sir" came the furious reply.

Siler held his breath.

The colonel advanced on his Major, who stood her ground. Siler tried to shrink into himself a little more.

"I believe you owe me an explanation, Major," Colonel O'Neill forced out in low, clipped tones.

"I believe you are mistaken. . . Sir," Major Carter nearly spat her reply, turning abruptly away.

The Colonel's hand snaked out and pulled the Major towards him, bringing their bodies into close contact.

Siler started to pray. He *really* shouldn't be here. He fumbled with the pliers trying to readjust his nearly nerveless grip, and felt his heart plunge as they slipped in slow motion and landed loudly on the floor.

The two officers sprung apart as if burned, wide eyes searching for and locating the guilty looking Sgt under the table.

'Oh God, I wish I was anywhere but here' thought all three occupants of the room.
