Fireworks

It was 15 till midnight as Raven sat atop the roof of Titan Tower. Moonlight peeked through the dusty clouds, cascading upon her ivory skin. Stars scattered throughout the sky, some burning brightly, while others faded into the dark. She hovered just above the tower's edge as she quietly repeated her mantra, "Azarath Metrion Zinthos".
"Meditating again?" A voice asked softly, as though not to break her trance.
She remained silent for a moment as her body slowly descended onto the concrete building. She relaxed her hands onto her lap as she swung her legs over the tower's edge. She leaned back with her hands against the ground, supporting her.
"Raven?"
Raven turned her head ever so slightly, glancing at the figure sideways.
"Speedy." She said turning back to the open view.
He laughed quietly and sat down beside her, a faint scent of vanilla reaching his nose. He could feel her tense up as his arm gently brushed against hers.
"Nervous?" He said smiling as he turned his face directly at her.
Raven turned her head to face him, giving him a dull look.
"Okay, okay." He held up his hands in defense.
He smirked, finding her sarcastic attitude quite charming. "So, nice night, isn't it?"
Raven sighed, her shoulders relaxing.
"Why are you up here, Speedy? I'd never expect you, of all people, to be up on this roof." Raven asked, slightly expectant of his answer.
He stayed silent for a moment, noting how bright the moon was and how its rays seem to reflect directly upon Raven, giving her a incandescent glow. His smiled changed from a carefree to a more serious fashion. "No reason," he finally replied.
Raven turned to him, her eyebrow quirked.
"It's New Year's Eve, Speedy. You really expect me to believe that you would be up here on the roof rather then down there in a room filled with drunken heroes and prostitutes?" Raven said, almost bitterly.
"First of all, Robin would never allow alcohol in the tower, let alone prostitutes. And second of all, why can't you believe that I would just want to enjoy the breeze instead of being down there, partying?" Speedy asked, almost sadly.
"Because you're not that kind of person." She said in a matter-of-factly kind of way.
"Maybe I am." He retorted, moving closer to her.
"No, you're not. I've known you long enough, Speedy, to know the kind of person you are."
"Okay, fair enough. But have you thought that just maybe I like it up here?"
Raven remained silent, knowing he had more to say.
"Or just maybe, I wanted to be with you." He smiled, moving closer to her.
Discomfort read clear on Raven's face. She turned away from him, hoping to hide her uneasiness.
"Or just maybe, I like you."
He slipped an arm around her waist, causing Raven to turn around in surprise. Her lips brushed lightly against his cheek, sending chills throughout his body. He shook off his nerves, chuckling softly. He cupped her cheek and titled his head, placing a small, chaste kiss upon her lips. He could feel her muscles becoming tense as he held her. His thumb gently stroked her chin, hoping to relax her a bit. He ran his tongue across her bottom lip, hugging her closer as her eyes fluttered shut. He started to grow a little unsure of his actions, until he finally felt her kissing back, his doubt melting away.
An explosion was heard in the distance followed by faint cheering. Raven pulled away in embarrassment, her cheeks turning slightly red.
"Look." Speedy whispered, gesturing towards the sky.
"Fireworks." Raven breathed.
Speedy turned to her and laughed quietly, "I'll say."
If you didn't get that last part, there was an explosion caused by Raven's emotions. But other people thought it was New Year's Eve fireworks. So, how's that for a first SpeedyxRaven. Was it bearable at least?
