He was a hunter and she was his prey.
The forest was filled with the sounds of panting breaths and her rapidly beating heart. Her eyes darted around like a rabbit franticly trying to escape the wolf bearing down on it. Branches tore at the girl's jacket with each lurching dart forward. Clawing, greedy wooden hands strained towards her skin.
'Come play with us' the trees whispered
'Let us eat you'
Night was closing in. The leaves on the ground looked red in the light of the twilit sky, a deep, bloody orangish red that cast an eerie glow around all it touched.
A chill colder than anything she'd ever felt before settled onto her. The adrenaline that had been pulsating through her veins and keeping the young woman warm disappeared just like that, leaving her feeling woozy. The girl stumbled. She threw her arms out and caught herself against a large tree trunk just in time, shakingly righting her stance and preparing to run once more. Her shirt was ripped, and she thought that somewhere along the line she had dropped her wallet. It would have took too much time to stop and check though, to stop and even think about checking, and so she didn't.
The girl ran. The trees, those goddamn fucking trees why wouldn't they leave her alone kept reaching their hungry hands out.
Scratching, tearing, rip rip sckhhhhhsh, bleeding, panting, falling
falling
falling
The scent of wet earth and slowly decaying foliage filled her nostrils. Tousled brown hair fell over her eyes, plastering to her skull with the help of the copious amount of sweat sticking to the strands.
Branches rustled. Her heart stopped; no, no, no.
"Why are you running away?"
She couldn't stop herself from looking at him. Every nerve in her body screamed in protest as her head turned, trying to escape the inevitability of what was to come.
He was beautiful. Breathtaking really, but it was a monstrous beauty. A beauty that screamed I'M NOT HUMAN. It was as if biology had attempted to create an attractive lure to help him ensnare prey, but it had backfired. The result was something like looking into a solar eclipse.
So lovely it was horrifying.
"You smell so tantalizing, Bella."
Her bowels released, but the girl didn't notice. Her clothing was now so streaked with sweat and dirt and bodily fluids that it hardly made a difference anyway.
Those eyes. Red like the blood he craved, glowing in the dying rays of sunlight that still remained to light the scene. Skin as pale as marble, as pale as death itself, and it called to her.
Fangs glittered, set in a deliciously grotesque smile. She almost didn't feel her throat being torn out.
Almost.
The numbness wore off and she screamed. At least, she screamed in what was the fuzzy remnants of her consciousness. What spewed forth from the girl's throat was nothing more than a wet gurgle. Blood bubbled up to be licked up by the beautiful monstrosity. He bent her head forward and suckled from the dying girl's throat like a child at its mother's breast.
Exquisite. Nothing could compare to the taste of fear laced blood. The beast straitened, blood dribbling down his chin. He licked his fingers clean and shuddered in pleasure.
It was fun to be a monster.
