and as she lay in his arms, she ponders whether this moment was real or not.
She watches pensively the steady fall and rise of his alabaster chest. The way his eyelashes flutter with every intake and outtake of breath he takes. The way his lips were parted. She watches everything.
Everything in silent awe.
And she wonders.
Their relationship had crumbled when they had decided to split for their careers, leaving both hearts aching.
Yet here they were reunited.
It was too good to be true, and yet.
She ponders whether any of this is real or not.
Gingerly she brushes her fingers against his upper arm to satiate her questioning. Eyes quickly flutter open at the delicate touch of his lover. He shifts, propping himself on his elbows to glance at her.
"What's wrong?" he asks his voice raspy with sleep.
She stares at him, watching the way the moonlight reflects ghostly off his bare chest. Silently shocked and pleased that he was not part of a dream she had thought she was having. He was indeed real. The warmth radiating off him surely justified that as well.
"Nothing," she says tentatively, as if testing the word on her lips.
There is a moment of silence, followed then by a shifting of sheets and screeching of bed springs. An arm outstretches lazily across her bare, slim waist as his eyes slowly drift shut once again, "go to sleep."
She smiles as she buries her face into the crook of his neck.
So it would seem this was not an illusion.
