No man would do things like what he did now. His head lumped lethargically on his left arm making his fiery red hair sprayed; covering the part of the table he was slumped on. His right hand holding a glass of scotch with his index finger traced the edge of it.

No man would be like him, not when his wedding day was only three days away.

"How long has he been like this?" a new voice was heard.

"Three hours."

"Holy shit." the profanity was whispered.

"How many?"

"Six?"

"Eight, Ikkaku."

"Dammit."

Abarai Renji didn't pay any attention to people behind him who were now bickering over petty thing like who was going to take him into his apartment. Had he cared to turn his drunken head, he would have seen men each with bald head, orange hair, tattooed face, silky short hair, and blonde hair sneak a peek at him with pity shadowing their eyes.

"Come on, Renji. I'm taking you home."

"Dun wanna."

"My pregnant wife will beat me senseless if she knows I let you pass out here. Have some mercy, will you?"

Renji grumbled as his hand shoved Kurosaki Ichigo rather weakly, due to his state. "Just leave."

With his hazy brain Renji could still feel his friends' eyes filled with sympathy for him. But he didn't want that. He didn't want any of it. All he need was now a time machine to throw him back to seven months ago so he could change some things. So he could change all the things.

A time machine or a mere courage to tell the most important woman in his life that he loved her.

'I'm… getting married."

Her expression was crestfallen. The saddest and the most heart-wrenching scene he had ever witnessed.

'Congratulations.'

His heart was torn instantly into million parts. 'Please don't congratulate me.'

Her long, black hair billowed softly when the wind caressed. She laughed wistfully. 'That's the common reaction to this situation.'

How could she be this collected? He wanted her to kick, slap, and then annihilate him for doing this to her. Oh how he wanted to crush her body to his and not letting go. Not now, not ever.

'I'm sorry…'

She shook her head softly. Who would think a girl like her could be this fragile?

'Come here.' she signaled him to step forward to her and when he did, she cupped his face with her two hands. She ran her thumbs over his wet cheeks. When did he start to weep?

'Why crying? You're supposed to be happy, dumbass.' she chuckled miserably, holding her own tears.

He didn't say anything. He couldn't.

She tiptoed then softly, very softly, like morning breeze, kissed his forehead.

The kiss was long, tender, full with love, and most of all, full of understanding.

'I'm sorry…' he didn't sob but his tears were now flowing freely.

'Stop saying that.' she whispered as she ran her fingers through his long hair.

'But I—"

She stopped him with a peck on his lips. 'I…' she couldn't hold back her sobs anymore, '… wish you all the happiness in the world, Abarai Renji.'

That was it. He pulled her to him, hold her and repeatedly kissed the top of her head.

'Forgive me, Tatsuki…'

The hangover hadn't visited him yet but his head already hurt like hell from remembering that day. Three days more… Three days more… His brain kept on repeating those three damned words he didn't hear his cellphone ringing.

"Abarai-san…" Kira patted his shoulder softly, "your phone."

Renji raised his head hopefully. "Tatsuki?"

Kira looked like he was having the urge to be anywhere but this place. "No, I'm sorry. It's your fiancé. It's Jackie-san."

AN: I was supposed to update my two other fics but suddenly this idea popped up in my head! Gah! So yes, this is a pilot. My experiment to test how people will respond to this story. There aren't many RenTat fics here. Too bad because this pairing will be epic.
