There was a time, an endless era ago, when I took his love, his passion, his faithfulness, for granted. I thought our bond would last forever. I though, I thought, that we would live together, love together, and die together.
But, you left that day, a quick eternity ago, amidst the wind and falling rain and flashing diamond-fire lightning. But, it was silent, I remember that. The thrumming of the rainfall made no sound; the roaring of distant thunder never touched the stillness that encompassed the world.
And I was alone. There was nothing but the aching, heart-wrenching, terrible pain in my chest.
And now, I stand here with crimson pain, betrayal, spilled upon my arms, my hands, and never-ending journey that takes you back where you began.
And there's a ripping, tearing, not-light.
And I remember: he never even said goodbye.
And with my last breath, I can't help but whisper his name.
"Jack."
And the scarlet world just sort of dissolved before my eyes.
And I think I thought I saw you.
Crying.
