This is from the point of view of a soldier who saw Liefer during the battle in Chapter 5. I do not own anything to do with Enna Burning. It is all Shannon Hale's.
There were flames as far and as high as I could see. They were engulfing my country, my town, my home. I tried to warn the people, but my legs refused to move forward. It was like there was an invisible wall separating me from them, and try as I might, I could not break the wall down.
I screamed hopelessly, without any sign that anyone had heard me. As the smoke grew thicker, I saw people in their houses begin to stir, wondering what was going on in the middle of the night. Their lazy movements became worried as the saw the dense smoke crowding the streets.
Many ran outside to see what was going on. The flames were drawing ever closer. I could hear shouts from the other side on my invisible wall. I cried out in agony as the flames began burning the roofs of the houses. I was a soldier, I should be able to help these people. And yet I stood unhelpfully, unable to save my home. The flames had reached the houses and the people were running and screaming in fear.
As I watched, my town was slowly engulfed in flames. I knew I must try harder to get past this wall. I took several steps, preparing to throw myself against the wall.
I hit the wall just as I woke up. I sat up quickly, startled to find myself not in my hometown, but safely in my tent. It had all been a dream. Well, not a dream, but a nightmare, no doubt brought on by the horrors I had witnessed during battle yesterday. That crazy man, who had lit my fellow soldiers and friends on fire, was now dead I had heard, burned up from the inside. I shuddered, and lay back down, exhausted, falling asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
It's short I know, but please review it anyway. :)
