Parvati yawned curling up on her bed. It had been the longest day. She had just barely closed her eyes, when she felt someone climb onto her bed.

"Are you awake?" Parvati opened one eye.

"No, I'm asleep, I'm just dreaming that my girlfriend climbed into my bed." She opened her other eye and stared at Lavender. "No, I'm awake because she's still fully clothed," she added glaring at Lavender. The girl laughed.

"Sorry, Parvati, I didn't mean to wake you, but I had a question."

"No, I'm not helping your with your divination homework. You need to figure out the influence of Pluto yourself, Lav." Lavender sighed.

"No, it's not that. It's just...well, we're fourth years, and being so, we're allowed to attend the Yule Ball, which is part of this boring tournament."

"I am aware of this fact, Lavender. What does this have to do with you waking me up...what time is it?"

"Midnight," Lavender answered. "I was up on the astronomy tower working on my astronomy essay."

"Waking me up at midnight?" Parvati finished.

"I wanted to know if anyone had asked you to the ball yet?"

"This couldn't wait until morning, Lavender?"

"No! What if someone asks you while I'm still asleep, or doing my hair!"

"Maybe if you didn't spend twenty minutes doing your hair...never mind. No one is going to ask me to the dance while you're doing your hair because I'll be standing right next to you doing mine. The only person who could ask me then is you, Lavender."

"Oh. So, um Parvati, since no one's asked you to the dance, and we're kind of dating..."

"Kind of dating?"

"Fine, we're dating," Lavender stated.

"Better. Unless you're embarrassed by me."

"I'm not! I'm just not ready to...well, actually, I guess, I am ready, Parvati. I'm ready for the world to know I like you. Parvati Patil, will you please go the Yule Ball with me?"

"Yes, I will go to the Yule Ball with you Lavender, on one condition."

"What?"

"Next time there's a dance...wait until morning to ask me?" Lavender asked slipping from Parvati's bed and dancing over to her own.

"Good night, Parvati."

"Good night, Lavender."
