The ending result was rather endearing. For Kamui anyway.

He had noticed the hunter wandering around the town during one of the days he came down to gather supplies. He and Subaru had been staying at a cottage nearly five miles from the village after arriving in this snow-blanketed world for nearly two weeks. The quaint village isolated up in the mountains of a renaissance type of world and the naturally quiet, private villagers who lived there welcomed them and then ignored them amicably. Subaru had been a little disappointed by the lack of liveliness but Kamui though it was perfect after their close call on the last world with Seishirou.

Then of course, he had to show up. Kamui had been under the impression that only the elder brother of the Hunters were hunting them but the younger brother's increasing presence on the worlds he and his twin arrived on was swiftly giving cause to doubt. He had followed Fuuma from afar for two days after the younger hunter appeared. He was clearly looking for something but Kamui wasn't sure what it was exactly. Or if it was under the request of Yuko or not. He did not wish to upset the time-space witch but if Fuuma was looking for them... unacceptable!

They would have to leave. Subaru had taken the news of Fuuma's appearance easily. He in fact did not seem surprised but had wandered away with a thoughtful look on his face. After deliberating, it was decided they would leave in three days.

Which left three days for Kamui to watch Fuuma suspiciously. On the last day that he and his twin would be on this world, Kamui decided to play a game, boredom giving way to mischief. Adorning one of the heavy black cloaks, remnants of their own birth-world's existence, that they had been seen arriving in, he had made his way through the village's most popular spots and murmured tales about the Man Who Asked Questions. In less than two hours a whispering mob of villagers sought out Fuuma. Cornering him in the plaza, they gathered up his pack and threw it at him, ordering him to leave. Kamui followed the crowd at a distance, watching with amusement as he moved to shelter himself in the shadows of a shop.

As Fuuma climbed onto his cycle, another off-world invention no doubt, he cast a look of puzzlement back at the village though Kamui noted he seemed a bit amused as well. Then Kamui found himself locking gazes with dark amber eyes that widened in surprise. Kamui allowed his own surprise to rise briefly before he boldly smirked, just as the villagers began to mutter and advance on the man again.

Fuuma didn't even spare them a glance, continuing to stare at Kamui. Then that infuriating grin appeared and Fuuma winked cheerfully, dispelling a portion of Kamui's pleasure of his concocted plan. The cycle's engine didn't roar but the gentle humming, loud in the otherwise silently rural world, made the villagers pause in various degrees of alarm. Fuuma waved, to him Kamui knew, and then he was swiftly disappearing down the trail leading to the isolated village.

Kamui took a moment to appreciate the sight and then silently retreated from the area unseen, billowing cape catching the wind. Subaru and he were leaving at sunset, he would need to hurry to keep his twin from waiting. Yet, he was satisfied with his victory.

He cheerfully didn't think about the next world they would travel to and the most probable encounter that would occur there.
