With a quick flick of the wrist, the young man's task was complete; now he laid his pen on the desk and rose up from his seat. He looked out the window to see stars lighting the night sky, and with a jolt he realized that midnight was drawing nigh. Exhaustion pulled at his muscles as he headed for bed, but as he reached the door a strange memory filled his head.
Drew watched from afar as his girlfriend gazed up at the moon, and he strained to hear her whisper, "I like the little spoon."
That was all he had heard before his work dragged him away, but now he decided he should try to please his dear May. She had tried big spoon before and seemed to enjoy that too, but perhaps she had a preference and had not yet told Drew.
Gently he opened the door and walked in without a sound, and a brunette tucked in his bed was the sight that he found. With a soft smile on his lips, under the blanket he crept, trying not to disturb the girl as she peacefully slept. He turned onto his side and pulled his body close to her, careful not to disturb her and cause his girlfriend to stir. He reached out his arms and pulled her in for a tight embrace, and as he hugged her, elation lit up Drew's sleepy face.
Suddenly, his hand hit something cold and he sat up straight, annoyed that this talk would be occurring when it was late. He poked the sleeping May then pulled the comforter back, and surely enough he discovered the girl's midnight snack.
"Ice cream in bed?" he hissed in utter shock and disbelief. "We had this discussion! I thought you had turned a new leaf!"
Still in deep sleep, May mumbled a reply amidst her dreams. "I love my little ice cream spoon." That's what she meant, it seems…
